I'd tell my bank to issue a check. I avoid auto pays as sometimes they can be hard or inconvenient to shut off.

Yes... disable it or you are going to double up.

Having renovations done on condo I purchased. Went to pay contractor with Plastiq but got "cash advance notice". Due to time constraints, my wife paid the contractor directly with her personal check (im out). I want to give my wife (different last name & same household) the money back. Can I have Plastiq send her a check our same house hold (~2400). I get to the end of setting up the payment and there isnt a cash advance notice.

This all could have been avoided if Plastiq didnt originally flag my payment to my contractor for Cash Advance. I actually didnt have any checks at the time as well.

Who sent you the cash advance notice? Plastiq or your credit card? Which CC was it? Just curious.

I got a warning using my Marriott visa about cash advance right on the last page before submitting payment.

I used a MasterCard then instead to send a small $5 check so i could establish relationship with the contractor. Once he deposits the check I should be able to use the visa

But how was the warning worded?

Was it a warning they detected that your Visa card would process it as a cash advance?

Or was it only a generic warning that some Visa cards may process it as a cash advance?

Paid my mortgage via CIP - the cheque is on the way and should be reaching by next Wednesday. I had turned off auto pay from the mortgage site but unfortunately, they pulled the payment this morning. I called this morning and was told that the second payment will be made against Principal. The CSR did ask to call once the second check posts to ask for a refund by check -- pretty frustrating except for getting the 3x points felt awesome. Anybody else had similar experience to share and what was the resolution ?

Yes. Thanks. I meant Plastiq charges besides mortgage/rent that may trigger 3x. otherwise I'll use United Club, as i do for all noncategory spend.
