I'm afraid that if I close down the 2 accounts I have, I won't be able to open any new ones (which would be worse than just letting them ride and using them in the meantime).

I am in the same boat you are. I have an open Bluebird and an open ServeOne account that both have escaped being closed so far. But for the past 3-4 weeks I have not been able to open up any more Serve/BB accounts. Until I can open a new account, I'm going to just going to let them ride. I'm afraid that if I close down the 2 accounts I have, I won't be able to open any new ones (which would be worse than just letting them ride and using them in the meantime). I'm hoping that there won't be anymore shutdowns before AmEx transfers the cards to the new issuer and then we'll see how the new issuer handles existing accounts and applications for new ones.

could it be that can't open another same as 1 is still active? or in the past before the last wave of shutdown, folks were able to open more than 1 of the same acct, but now not?

In the recent past, folks were able to open more than one of the same account. I have recently tried to open another ServeOne VIP account and a Bluebird account (both of which I currently have), without success. I also tried to open a new Serve Green account (which I do not presently have, but which I've had in the past), but received the same message about not being able to open such an account now. It makes me worried that AmEx is cracking down on the repeated short term opening and closing of these accounts and has decided that if you have opened and closed a number of these accounts over a certain period of time, you can't open any more (for who knows how long). That's just a working theory of mine based on my experience and that of others -- but I don't know that for a fact.

any guess around when the transition will occur?
You mean the transition of Serve from AmEx to InComm Holdings Inc.? If so, I think it was supposed to be complete by the end of the year. |

I haven't been able to do online loads of my Serve card from my BBVA Amex card since Dec 1. I also can't edit the card in the Settings page. Anyone else seeing problems as well?

Get em while you still can! Just got this email from Serve:
We are writing to notify you of a change coming to the American Express Serve® ONE VIP™ Program in 2018. As of January 1, 2018, we will no longer be accepting new ONE VIP Card Prepaid applications, but as a current ONE VIP Cardholder, we want to let you know that there will be no impact to your Serve Account. |
If I create three serve accounts:
If one of my accounts is shut down, will it shut down the other two? Can I MS on one account and save the other two for when the first one gets shut down on me? Or will shutting down also shut down the other two, even if they aren't activated? |
