Kate will only allow load totals up to $1999.99 every 10 minutes. It does not matter if it was you or the person before you. If you go over that limit, Kate will freeze. Sept 2015- Several people have reported the 10 minute limit is now longer than 10. Not sure how much longer yet. Several Kate's have locked up following the old 10 minute rule.
9 digit pin problem - Sometimes, for unknown reasons, after you swipe your card and enter your pin, MCE will ask you for a 9 digit pin. To date, no one knows why this happens, or has a fix for it. If it repeatedly asks you for a pin, this is the same as the 9 digit pin problem and there is no fix.
Unplugging and re-booting by a supervisor doesn't fix this problem.
For consistent MCE issues, use the WM feedback link to report:

Select 'store experience' and be sure to include the store number and address. If you include your name and phone number the stores sometimes call when it is working again. Do not abuse this as it may lead to your MCE being removed.

How to shut Kate up by sosamo
- Before you press anything, plug the headphones into the jack near the pinpad
- The touchscreen will "gray" out, and you won't be able to press anything.
- Press '3' on the pinpad
- Press 'Enter' on the pinpad
- Continue business as usual on the touch screen.

Goodbye Kate
I suppose this is just piling on given recent reports, but I just discovered that an all-time favorite KATE of mine was replaced with an ATM. This gal worked reliably for at least three years. I could count on one hand the number of times I saw another MSer, and I can't remember one time she wasn't working.

Tried today at two different Kates to load Simon Mall VGC and Staples VGC. Both times got "card is not accepted".
I was able to load these "not accepted" cards to my Serve at the cashier.
I wouldn't mind doing it except $300 Staples cards are sooo much easier to load with Kate.
Does anyone know (if loading at WM money center/with a cashier) - can you load several cards into your Serve in one transaction? Does WM limit 4 swipes per transaction like with MO, even if you are loading your Serve?

yes, max of 3 cards since the card you're loading to is counted as 4th.

I wonder if it's just a temporary glitch or a permanent thing. I tried to load today at yet another WM, the rejection message was something like "card is not accepted, invalide swipe". They couldn't have reprogrammed all Kates, but who knows...

I tried loading Serve and GoBank with Kate on Wed. First tried Staples GC and then PP debit card. I received the same message "card not accepted'" on both. Came home to see if I was shut down, if my GC's were activated properly, and to check on here to see what was going on. I tried Kate again today and it was still a no-go, so I went to Money Center and it worked fine. Cashier said Kate hasn't been working for a while.

Same here. Tried GCs from Giftcards.com and Staples, both rejected with the error "invalid swipe". Loaded successfully at the Money Center. The associate specifically asked if it was a bank issued debit card. Seem like they got a memo.

even kate's atm didn't allow withdrawal $ more than one. Withdrew a 1st $300 from BB card; then attempted to do another, but was declined with the message: can't process transaction, please contact card issuer.
Tried it again, but still got the same message. Has anyone recently experienced the same issue?
Either WM or Amex must have made more than 1 changes to KATE or so far...
