Does not work anymore, is dead..... what is the point to report 'not working'?
As of 08/25/2014, Bancorp cards (Vanilla Visa, OneVanilla, etc.) are rarely working first try for debit transactions at Walmart. There is no apparent geographical basis. Basically, it's a crapshoot.
Do not agitate a cashier or store and lose the ability to make these transactions in the future. Multiple failed swipes or transactions will likely increase scrutiny. You do not want that. It is best to stop using these cards.
Vanilla VISA defaulting to credit
As of 5/29/2014, at most Walmart locations, all Vanilla VISA cards issued by The Bancorp Bank are automatically recognized as credit. Most Mastercard have required a workaround for some time. The MoneyCenter Express (ATM, kiosk, Kate) is not affected by this change.

EDIT: I just checked AMEX and they are included as a valid drugstore. I thought I read awhile back that WAG was not coded as a 5% category on Old Blue, but I stand corrected. I've always avoided them b/c of that notion and I had plenty of RAs and CVS stores close by.

how much time/gas wasted by trying OV? Does that count for anything? And how can you still be loading BB on the 26th of the month? I finished loading 2 BB/1serve by 8/6!!

Not sure what's up with the failures, but I got another OV to go through for a $499.30 MO. 1st swipe, no issue at all. Not sure about this workaround everyone talks about because I only use Kate.
1. Hit the BB button
2. Enter amount
3. Kate says "$499.30"
4. Then says $.70
5. I hit Finish and Pay before she yaps again
6. I hit Debit
7. Kate softly says, "Slide your card"
8. Kare, still in a soft voice says, "Enter your PIN"
9. I enter my made up PIN
10. Kate says, "Would you like cash back"?
11. I mumble "Heck no" and hit the No button
12. Kate says, "Confirm amount"
13. I hit OK
14. MO starts printing
15. I snatch it and the receipt and I'm on my way
All last week, Kate kept whining about "Card not accepted" and repeating it over and over and over. It's working in my area so it's probably a matter of time before it works everywhere or nowhere at all. OVs and Kate are a dangerous combination.

I'm always amazed by people by people who think that the BB must be loaded in the first 5 days of the month, otherwise you're doing it wrong. BB should be loaded so that it aligns well with your payment schedule and to minimize the amount of time you are floating money. If all of your bills are due between the 1st and 5th for instance, it makes much more sense to purchase and load at the end of the month since you float for just a few days. As long as you max out your 5k, it doesn't matter.

Why would you think that people go to WM MC just with OVs? Not much time or gas wasted since I had other GCs that worked. Please don't be so judgmental or people will stop posting their experience.

I've been fortunate to have a several working Kates in the area and the ability to get MOs without dealing with Walmart employees. My question is this: Is it safe to use the MOs to pay a CC directly or is it better to deposit in a bank acct and pay from there?
