Good news. Any risk in their clawing back the miles/points/cashback?
I do wonder whether a SAR has been filed about me. However, since I'm not doing anything illegal and I'm a lawyer, I'm not worried about it. If the feds come around to ask me what's up with 20K in gift cards, I won't be the least bit concerned. |
@GatorBlues,
Sounds like they liquidated the cards for you, saving you some face time with Walmart Money Center staff :) Like you said, nothing to worry about. MS is not illegal, and can be easily explained to an auditor. I keep all related receipts and even used VRs just in case. |
Bought 5k the other day for meeting my recent 6 card app. Was able to complete 3 cards.
Already unloaded 2k still waiting to unload the rest when the month is over, hopefully there won't be an issue like some have mentioned. |

Assuming you're unloading to BB, I would highly recommend against holding onto those additionals and just liquidate with MO immediately otherwise, I'm fairly confident you're going to end up getting the remaining cards frozen and have to deal with all of those shenanigans |

Your concern should be the opposite. Getting frozen was no big deal. I got a check instead of having to go to Wally World to feed the birds. The disappointing part is that I couldn't go back to AAA and buy a bunch more cards, which I was planning to do as soon as I hit a new credit card monthly cycle. If I were you, I'd be less worried about whether they will freeze you and more worried about whether you can get back to AAA and buy more before they shut you down and block your access to free points.

just wanted to give an update. got my check in the mail today from MetaBank. it took about a week and a half from when i requested it. this was good while it lasted!

I had an email today from AAA saying if I bought gift cards at the local office, I would get 5% in value off my membership fee in AAA Dollars. This is for cards like Amazon and restaurants. I am wondering if they accept Amex Gift Cards for the sale, as that would make a 13% return for me with the Travelocity Amex 5%, Topcashback 3% and this 5%. I know they sell Amex, but do they take them as well? Maxed out my BB, AP, Serve, and Prepaids this month, and my AAA membership is $96 a year, a buck is a buck! This is in FL, GA and TN only. $2K in cards would pay for membership.

I wondered if whatever limits we are running up against reset after 30 days or so. No luck in my area - last purchase 11/16, informed banned 11/18, still banned 12/19. Oh well, worth a try.

Has anyone tried again to see if those of us who were banned are still banned? At $3 per $500, AAA's visa gift cards are a pretty good deal even when they aren't being offered for free as a promotion.
|
On a related note for those who aren't banned I wonder what the rolling window is for new purchases to stay below the ban? I stayed at $2k with the current offer to hopefully stay under the radar. It looks like my local AAA will allow cards up to $750 so depending on the normal fee they could be an attractive option. I am going to take this one a bit slow to start and see if I can stay under the radar.

Yeah I saw that it was greater than 30-days at least for those who have been banned. I think I'll wait till February (60-days) perhaps before trying again. It is hard to believe there would be an absolute limit but who knows, stranger things have happened.
