For those getting blocked, if you asked, are you permitted to buy them with the fee (so only the free promotion is being blocked) or are you blocked from buying them altogether.

I was told I am "not eligible to purchase MetaBank prepaid products"

It is funny they say this (in a sad way). I'm guessing you could purchase a Metabank GC at a grocery store and be fine.

I wonder what would happen if you bought a Metbank GC from a grocery store and tried to register it online. I may test this if I get the AAA shutdown message.

I have been able to. That was how I realized it was the same bank.

all my AAA GCs are non-working. I called the CS line and they said I have to call MetaBank to resolve it .. on Monday. What a hassle.

Alcibiades Nov 23, 2013 12:38 pm

MetaBank cannot do that to an identified purchaser

Stopped in my local SoCal AAA office to inquire. They looked at me like I was from Mars. Eventually said Visa GCs aren't done in the office, only online

worked for 2x$500 cards in south eastern PA yesterday for me. Wasn't advertised anywhere in store, had to ask clerk at counter and he confirmed they had them with no purchase fee. Bought with Venture credit card. Set pin via phone then tried loading online to my BB but error because addressed didn't match. Went to AAA site and registered cards with same addy as BB and got it to load ($500 auto $100x5days increments).

With the other card, no issues depositing into BB via WM kiosk.

Gonna try for maximum load this month - $1000 a month via online and $5000 via kiosk for a goal of $6000 equaling 12,000 points

Welcome to FT!

Did the AAA clerk say anything about a limit?

Wickedtao read the Bb thread on Online GC loads to BB from VGCs and rethink your strategy.

thank you for this.

Like almost everything in my life, learned the hard way. Was on the phone with BB rep wondering and asking why the Visa Debit "Gift Card" wouldn't add funds despite the initial transaction saying it would. She was stumped, so went online to this post and saw your response and helpful link.

I sincerely hope you meant to accentuate "Debit Card" instead of "Gift Card" and that you were in fact asking a BB rep about loading a Debit Card...

Just called AAA (east coast, NYC) , the promotion will start 12/2 and run to end of year, no max card limit, need to be an AAA member.

hope this is correct!

Did you ask about which cards they would be selling, Amex or Visa? I'm in CT and they're already selling the Amex versions without the fee here. The Visa version would be more useful if I could get them.
