Well I called Vanilla and the CSR confirmed the available balance and that the card is not blocked, but told me that Vanilla GCs CAN NOT be used to load other cards or transfer money in any way, only to make purchases.

Needless to say I found this more than strange considering everything I've read in this forum. I'm wondering though if I got the wrong Vanilla card - mine says NON-RELOADABLE. Is it only VRs that can be loaded to Bluebird?

I have loaded many of these to BB and obtained Mos for them, so can be done.

IME, the issue is whether the debit function is working. Im confident that by calling in and telling them that you were trying to load another card that your debit function will never work on the card you have. Why would you do that?

To test, go to a store that only runs debit, like Aldis grocery store or have a store try and run it as debit. Card will probably decline the transaction. It's a dud and/or blocked for debit transactions. You can duke it out with CSR or dump it in another transaction.

I bought a Vanilla Visa last night and plan to take to WM to buy MO today. I will reply back on my results.

 what you did was akin to stealing stuff from a store then walking outside and bragging all about in front of the store

If anything you should come here or any other site 1st uploaded a pic of the front of pkg and asked whats up. Now its probably only good to use as you would any CC. But since they will hit you with a fee each time you swipe it , its best to unload it all on 1 transaction, even if that means hitting a Lowes and getting gas , dept store or restaurant cards at least it will only cost you $.50 1 time

I used my Vanilla Visa at the Money Center desk. Went thru the first time with no issues. I put in pin on that first use.

Tried loading $300 - same message.

Went to another WM, tried loading $300 - same result.

www.vanillavisa.com still shows Available Gift Card Balance $500.00.

Anyone knows what this means or how to get around it?

I recently had issues at the beginning of the month at 2 of my WM stores. I have loaded 10's of thousands previously using CGC and VGC. Suddenly I had similar issues at my stores. I flew across the country and remembered to bring my GC's and bluebird/Gobank cards with me. Unloaded all GCs at one WM no problem. One of the other threads talked about GCs being rejected at some WM stores now. I haven't tried loading GCs at my stores since the rejections since VR have been plentiful lately.

Another negative data point here. I got my first of the new-style VGCs the other day, and just today went into WM with a mix of old and new cards to load to BB. Old cards all loaded no problem...new cards all failed with debit not available error. I'd never had a VGC declined at my WM before today.

I think this is the beginning of the end for this one, folks.

A new style one? As I just noted, there's no problem with existing stock. It's the ones they're just starting to roll out that don't work.

I had an issue with that $200 card at WM. I ended up liquidating it via AP and sticking to the variable load cards.

I just loaded a $500 variable-load Vanilla Visa to BB yesterday from WM. No problems. I bought the card, drove across the street to WM and loaded within 10 min.

Again, this isn't useful information without knowing the variety of VV it was. 99% of Vanilla Visas out there work fine. It's only the new ones that are just starting to appear that are a problem.
