Kate will only allow load totals up to $1999.99 every 10 minutes. It does not matter if it was you or the person before you. If you go over that limit, Kate will freeze. Sept 2015- Several people have reported the 10 minute limit is now longer than 10. Not sure how much longer yet. Several Kate's have locked up following the old 10 minute rule.

9 digit pin problem - Sometimes, for unknown reasons, after you swipe your card and enter your pin, MCE will ask you for a 9 digit pin. To date, no one knows why this happens, or has a fix for it. If it repeatedly asks you for a pin, this is the same as the 9 digit pin problem and there is no fix.
Unplugging and re-booting by a supervisor doesn't fix this problem.

For consistent MCE issues, use the WM feedback link to report:
https://corporate.walmart.com/contac...orate-feedback
Select 'store experience' and be sure to include the store number and address. If you include your name and phone number the stores sometimes call when it is working again. Do not abuse this as it may lead to your MCE being removed.

How to shut Kate up by sosamo
  1. Before you press anything, plug the headphones into the jack near the pinpad
  2. The touchscreen will "gray" out, and you won't be able to press anything.
  3. Press '3' on the pinpad
  4. Press 'Enter' on the pinpad
  5. Continue business as usual on the touch screen.

Note: If you ever make a mistake, to get out, just unplug the headphone.

North Cal San Jose monterey road kate

I live 30 minutes from it. As All the other locations close to me became non-viable, I drove there yesterday just to see "lane closed" message.
Has anyone who lives nearby seen it working recently ?
I don't mind trying it again but would not want to spend an hour driving for nothing. I tried to call them but employees were not helpful.

Dude - I spoke with the manager - she CLOSES IT! She denies people to use it. The machine is working 100% fine. Still will not spit out paper, but all other operations work, but the manager denies you access. Go figure, she is crazy!!!

Had a chuckle today. Kate was taking >2 min a load, spitting out some configuration error in the middle of the loading process before finally getting to payment acceptance. Seems someone before me had noticed the same problem and had a lot of cards to load, and decided to get comfy:

Spouse and I went to the outlet mall in Gilroy this afternoon, and here's the status as of Tuesday evening:
  • Gilroy: Kiosk turned off
  • Morgan Hill: Flashing red light with taped paper saying "OUT OF ORDER" on it
  • San Jose/Monterey Hwy: Kiosk disabled as per the post above with "Lane Closed" message

In summary, it's pretty disappointing for those of us in the South Bay.

Two stupid questions (please forgive):

1. I'm assume, but ... were these multiple BB's to pass the $2k limit?

2. Were these 16 separate Kate transactions? (Meaning 16 separate swipes of the BB card to initiate?) I've been looking/hoping for a way to do multiple loads in a single 'session' with Kate other than just standing there looking conspicuous.

Thanks, in advance!

[If I get flamed, so be it. Been on the internet long enough to not take it too personal.]

PS - Is there a hard/fast speed limit for transactions? I fig'd there was some limiter, but have never seen a number for it.

Are we back to "you may have to do multiple swipes" land? It felt so good mid last week that Kate took all of my OVs at first swipe without complaining.....

besides the 1999.99, no. it's just that Kate takes her time, and with multiple transactions it adds up.

So Kate essentially sets the speed limit.

I'd be pissed if I'm trying to load my bb and someone is swiping 30 times to load.

In my defense, it was added as a postscript, not the main group.

WoW didnt know MH had a Kate or a WM. Slept there Sun night, drove to Gil on Mon and loaded 2 BBs x 2400, past the store on my way to MH, when I left on Mon apx noon it was still a green light

Now around LB on Tues it took me 7 stores till I hit pay dirt and loaded another 2400 x 2. Then there was a WM that ended up across from my hotel so I walked over at 10pm Tues night and loaded the last 200 on each BB. Now if only Oct will go as smooth
