Do NOT let Rite-Aid scan the GoBank barcode. You will be charged, but your funds won't load. It is a PIA to get your funds back.
Want to stay active? Be sure to only load when your balance is at or close to 0. Continuing to load when you have funds in there seems to be a no no. Swipes are recommended, but there are folks active that don't swipe.
Lots of $200 loads can get you shutdown. GoBank does not like paying load fees on low denomination loads. Two $500 loads is better than five $200 loads.

americanindian (closed)- closed after 3 months today. had about 7.5k deposit each month, with lots of small value(<$20) purchases each month. liquidated mostly using bill pay.
rodsren (closed)- the dapperdon warned me. I was closed today after less than 5,500 or loaaing in less than 3 weeks (was going to try to keep it to 7,500 - 10,000 but didn't luck out.)
binnycode (closed, re-opened) - 7x $200 loads + 1x $700 load + 3x $500 over 2 days got me shut down. Called CSR and they re-opened my account, letting me know that "direct deposit would reduce my number of trips to walmart" lol!

Frequent Miler mentioned this on his blog today, and it worked for me.
If you already requested an invite, sometimes going and putting your email in the request field again after some time (few days for me), can allow you to then immediately create an account.

I tried to load $100 an $100 visa gift card (the one with gowallet) with pin, and it didn't go through. Then I tried to load $99 with the same card and it failed.
Finally it worked with my AS debit card (but I have no idea whether there will be miles for this transaction).

Can I buy a money pak at walmart with 2 $500 giftcards. Do I just bring the moneypak to any register and say I want to load 995.05? The 4.95 fee makes the total 1000. Then ask to pay 500 first on one card?
I plan on using this for my first load to my gobank acct. I do not have a card yet and I think it is not sent out till I load some money.

got my invitation in my email box. followed all the step and was stuck on step 5. completed SS #, address, password, security question and when I clicked submit, i received the following:

I tried re-submitting the question on step 5 and still received the following....anyone else having problems...sorry but i don't know much about the site.

so the trick is buying gc, buying moneypaks with them so to get refund from gobank? can't you just reload at Walmart ATM?

update: I loaded 990 on a moneypak at walmart with two chase 500 giftcards with a fee of 4.64. I loaded it onto gobank as my first load when I got home. I should get 4.95 back from gobank within 48hrs according to their website.

I was mad at GoBank because it did not accept my Google voice as a cell phone number. I use only Google voice as my cell phone number so that all my text messages are received to my gmail account Inbox as an email.
For free bank accounts, I felt it is not necessary to spend my prepaid card airtime for banking.
On repeat attempt, it accepted GV and before it could change its mind, I used my credit union debit card to open account.
I am now in and set to go.
