Do what PP wants you to do and spend the money on retail purchases @ WMT, TGT and regular spend...

I've talked to a lot of WAG cashiers. Nobody except us buys these things. If you don't understand what I was saying than you have no idea how to use these PP thingies...

I got the dreaded email today too, after a few months of just making online Serve loads. So...has anyone actually been shut down for that? What if I loaded and then transferred the funds to other friends/family accounts the way we did it back in the Amazon Payments days, and then did Serve loads from those accounts after the transfer? Just wondering how to get around this...

Sorry double post.

If you value your PP account I'd stop period as this is a shot across your bow. PP is more than happy to close down all your accounts for any reason and sit on your money for months. If you don't care about your PP account then my suggestion would be to change your behavior in some way, minimize what you have in the account at any one time and keep going. I got the warning email as well yesterday and I'll just shift to other stuff as I don't want to lose my PP account. Also I wouldn't leverage other folks' accounts unless you don't mind getting them closed either. While my wife is perfectly happy to let me use her for MS I have NEVER touched her PP account because she uses it too much and would kill me if I got it closed.

If you read a couple posts past my own you'll see another person responding that it was counted as payments received, and it was for me as well - I just didn't realize it. I have since chatted with PayPal over Facebook about this and they assure me that it won't be counted into the 20k/200 threshold. What will happen in reality is a different matter, however. I'm risking it.
Other things counting towards that threshold include personal payments from friends and family. I'm willing to bet that PayPal isn't dumb enough to lump everything together and call it online sales. I have yet to hear from somebody who went over the threshold using MyCash cards only and got the 1099-K |

Received the warning email as well. I didn't even load the max this month (although did the last 3 months). I've also started using the debit card for a bit of daily spend as I was targeted for 2% cash back and was hoping it would help to avoid this email. I also use my PayPal account to pay for online transactions about once a week and never withdraw balance to bank account. My primary method of draining the account is Bluebird loads at Kate (risky/not intended use I know) with debit card.
I agree with the speculation that PayPal sends these when they deem you unprofitable, see large withdrawals coming from the account, or any Bluebird/Serve debit load. My question is: 1) Has anyone emailed PayPal back/is it worth it? $2500 of monthly spend at WalMart seems justifiable but who knows if their getting detailed receipts and can tell it's Bluebird. It says in the email "MyCash is intended for retail purchases"- which WalMart should pass as. 2) How hard is it to open a new account? 3) Has anyone with a single PayPal account been shutdown for maxing out the loads each month and liquidating via PayPal Debit Card? I can't seem to find any reports of this. Seems shutdowns have occurred because of multiple accounts, sending money to other accounts to avoid limits, withdrawing straight to bank account, etc. Ultimately, I think I'm going to stop the PayPal loads for a few months and see if that helps. $4000 can be MS elsewhere just as easy without risking the closure of my account. |
