My pattern is similar to you, and thanks to you for that suggestion (minus Evolve, I don't do that). I do lots and lots of cashback at the drugstore with PPBDMC. Whenever I have a chance to buy something with PayPal funds, I choose that. No warning e-mail yet.

I realise though, that I end up actually doing legitimate spending (counter to MS theory), though maybe that's why PayPal loves me and the only e-mails they ever send me are happy, markety "spend more! XXX offer, ends soon!" type e-mails. Let's keep it that way!

But I guess your days with Evolve are counted ey? Didn't you mention that your PPBDMC is about to expire...

Yep. But they said they just sent me a new card. Still haven't gotten it yet.

I see no problem with this. If you fund with my cash, you can earn up to 6% back on your purchases on daily spending.

I do not see how you get 6%. It seems that you overlooked the cost for acquiring the mycash card. In addition, whenever you do real spending with paypal, there is an opportunity cost (about 2%), which you did not figure in here.

Anyone here having declined transaction issues when trying to load Redbird with PPBDMC? On the RB side I'm all set as I got the email that the account is good for the load (uploaded+verfied DL+DC images). However, whenever I try to add money it declines the transaction and the error message says I should contact my Mastercard issuer. Of course I'd prefer to not touch base with PP on that. Everything went smooth on Serve, now with RB it doesn't. I don't have enough PP balance to cover the transaction but the backup funding always worked with Serve loads... Any ideas?

Just got shut down at my two local friendly Dollar General stores for Ppmc . Both times told cash only. The second store told me that they had accepted credit until being scammed "badly".

Why would you go to Dollar General? No Rite Aids of CVSs in the area?

I had a similar experience a few weeks ago. Went to Dollar General store and attempted to purchase two PPMC cards. Clerk was about to ring them up. Manager saw that I was purchasing PPMCs and asked how I was planning to pay for them. I told him that I was planning to pay by credit card and that I had purchased PPMCs at the store with credit cards in the past, which wasn't actually true. Manager said that he hasn't allowed such transactions to be paid for by credit card and mentioned that someone else must have been working that day.

After being turned down, I headed to a Family Dollar store where I had successfully purchased PPMCs with credit cards in November. When I took PPMCs to register, clerk saw me take card from my wallet and stated that PPMCs could only be paid for by debit card or cash. I said "okay" and then proceeded to swipe my credit card to see if it would go through. The payment was rejected by the register saying that the method of payment was not authorized. The clerk was upset that he had to void the transaction and repeated that only debit cards were accepted. I apologized and said that I had misunderstood him.

There is a very limited supply of PPMCs in my area. None of the CVS stores in my area sell them, so I've had to search for another source.

Just started with PPMC two months ago. At Local rite aid was told "cash only" when starting up. cvs haven't explored due to the large amount of public blogged information about prepaids going cash only at CVS, including PayPal. Is cvs Ppmc friendly again?

Only speak for yourself! The CVS here don't even have them on the rack.

Nope. I didn't intend to include the rest. If you purchase with a 5% card and you receive 1% back from PP that's 6% on daily spending before you deduct card or reload costs. I'm not sure how you reach 2% as an opportunity cost. Mine is much, much lower.

So it is not 6% but about 5% in term of true cash back rate. If you do real spending with credit cards like citi double cash or FIA AMEX, you get at least 2% plus benefits of real credit cards.

- PPMC cost is $3.95 per $500, right? That's .79% - let's say .8%
- debit purchases don't earn CB on PPDMC so your reward on a 5% card is 4.2%
- if used any other (good) CB card like FIA Amex or Citi DC you'd earn 2% which you forgo by using the PP card
- taking all this into account and your true earning is 2.2% on PIN-based or 3.2% on non-PIN transactions
