That usually means your card is frozen (might need to fax in documents etc.) and can't be spent. If you can get a balance when you call in (but can't login) then it usually means spend down mode.

5 mvd accounts
With my first 2 accounts placed in "spend down" mode, I decided to go ahead and open a third account. But when I did so, I received an error message saying that my information could not be verified. So I re-filled the form and clicked again. Same error message. So once again I re-filled the form and clicked. Same error message.
Yesterday, to my complete surprise, 3 new MVD cards arrived in the mail! I just successfully activated all of them. I think the day after I tried and failed three times, I went back to the site and tried again, so it will be interesting to see if even more cards arrive. I'm just going to assume that each of these new cards will get shut down after one CA/MO, so I'm just going to load right up to $9,999 and the CA the whole thing. |

Well, my two cards are liquidated with only a few cents left on each.
Don't they charge you $10 or something to officially close the account? I don't think just throwing them in the sock drawer or shredding them is an option as the account would remain open. |

Had the same error on trying after my 3rd was closed. Wonder if I'll be receiving a card in the mail too.

I got one of my cards put into spend down mode. CSR was pretty unhelpful. I asked them if it was possible to get a check and the sad NO. And if you loose the temp card (didn't send a permanent card before shutdown) you lose all your money. Total BS as a letter to their 'compliance dept' will sort that out but I'd like to get options on how best to proceed. Cash advancing a temp card is a no good as fraud is big concern with banks in my neck of the woods.

My card which was active is again in a spend down mode. 2 weeks back, I called and spoke to a rep who put my card back in active mode. I have 2500 loaded on it and will do a BP or CA it. I will try to load more and see if it works.
