Is you account in spend down mode as well or are people with active accounts getting the same thing?

I don't know. It was active yesterday and I was going to login and check the balance before I went to the store just now, could not login due to "Invalid username/ password"

I'm getting that message too. When I call on the phone and enter the 16 digit card number and the pin I get "we are unable to process this transaction at this time."

That usually means your card is frozen (might need to fax in documents etc.) and can't be spent. If you can get a balance when you call in (but can't login) then it usually means spend down mode.

When I dial the customer service number I get "that was an invalid extension" and it disconnects.

If you have questions about your MyVanilla Card or account or need to report a lost or stolen Card, please contact a Customer Care representative at 1-855-686-9513.

Is there another number?

EDIT: Number is working now. They are having system problems. I am now able to login and my card is active. Daride, try to login again, hope it works for you too.

There would be some irony if negative balances on MVD ended up as unpaid debt that lowered credit scores of FTers.

That is against the banking regulation, no negative balance is allowed on a prepaid account.

ddallas, thanks for the update, I can log into card number 2 and 3 now, still can't log into card 1 but I can reset the password for it for some reason. I am going to load a VR to it tonight to see if that will work.

5 mvd accounts

With my first 2 accounts placed in "spend down" mode, I decided to go ahead and open a third account. But when I did so, I received an error message saying that my information could not be verified. So I re-filled the form and clicked again. Same error message. So once again I re-filled the form and clicked. Same error message.

Yesterday, to my complete surprise, 3 new MVD cards arrived in the mail! I just successfully activated all of them.

I think the day after I tried and failed three times, I went back to the site and tried again, so it will be interesting to see if even more cards arrive.

I'm just going to assume that each of these new cards will get shut down after one CA/MO, so I'm just going to load right up to $9,999 and the CA the whole thing.

Not true- they will also close you based on your loading activity. The cashing out seems to be irrelevant. Strongly advise that you load $2500 per day and cash out within 5 mins of the load. You do not want your money to get trapped on the card.

Well, my two cards are liquidated with only a few cents left on each.
Don't they charge you $10 or something to officially close the account?
I don't think just throwing them in the sock drawer or shredding them is an option as the account would remain open.

Just called MVD, card #1 is now in spend down mode and they said it will be cancelled automatically once I use up the remaining balance. They said the red flag was because of the large sums of money being loaded to the card. I am going to try load $1k a day to the other 2 cards and see what happens.

Had the same error on trying after my 3rd was closed. Wonder if I'll be receiving a card in the mail too.

And if you loose the temp card (didn't send a permanent card before shutdown) you lose all your money. Total BS as a letter to their 'compliance dept' will sort that out but I'd like to get options on how best to proceed. Cash advancing a temp card is a no good as fraud is big concern with banks in my neck of the woods.

First time I've had to deal with buffoonery like this. If anyone have and ideas please let me know (PM if need be).

TIA

One idea is use it to purchase a VR card, and then load the VR card onto the bluebird.

My card which was active is again in a spend down mode. 2 weeks back, I called and spoke to a rep who put my card back in active mode. I have 2500 loaded on it and will do a BP or CA it. I will try to load more and see if it works.

If it's under $1k, you can also try amazon payments, I just emptied my spend down card with $44 left using amazon payments.

If by "sucker" you mean the overwhelming majority of people afraid of taking small risks and therefore missing out on opportunities to take advantage of glitches like this, then yep, I completely agree with you.
