I don't know about your state, but were I live you can't buy lottery tickets with cc, cash only.

I know this was mentioned sarcastically, but I'm sure it's crossed everyone's mind at least once

Astrophysx, are you talking about this:
If you have the new Chase Ink Bold you can go through the Ultimate Rewards Mall to Staples and buy gift cards online. The UR mall currently offers 5X at Staples and then you get another 5X for the Ink Bold's office store bonus category.

Yup! Just have to let the bill close out to make sure that all the bonus points post. Used the UR Mall through the Sapphire to get the extra 7% at the end of the year. Too bad you can't buy bigger gift cards!

Actually you can buy lottery tickets with a credit card. I do it a lot. You buy 1 cup of coffee, usually $1.00 and add as many lottery tickets to the same order. You also could just add them to your gas purchase if you go inside. Of course your state may vary, buy not mine.

Same here - shut out in Cali on that

To clarify, I was NOT trying to meet a minimum spend. I was using my ATM as a credit card (have to do it 6 times a month to keep acct service-charge free), and thought I would throw a lottery ticket on with my Diet Coke. Clerk separated the two charges and made me pay cash for lotto ticket.

Surely the INK Bold card gives a better return (5x) than using the Sapphire card (1x but then 7% back)? Or am I missing something obvious here?

(I have both cards and I'd obviously use the UR mall whichever card I used).

5 points on your Ink

5 points on your Sapphire, and then an extra 7% on points earned

Overall 10.35 points per dollar
