The bank account.
Thanks. I send monthly to my wife, then pull into her checking account (which I am joint on). Have been for over 2 years, no problem. |
I have seen a few more than a few. Typically the account will be unsuspended for a period to allow funds removal. The gods of the rainforest are usually merciful. The gods protecting The Blue Bird of Happiness, however, are vengeful and have been known to keep all the money - $20,000 in one reported shutdown case.

Wow.... some of you are making this MUCH more difficult than it needs to be.
Many of us, myself included, have been doing A-B for years with no issues. Two people, same last name, different bank accounts...full $1K each way every time. We're talking about Amazon here...one of the largest online retailers and a very well-run company with lots of IT talent. Do you honestly think changing the IP addresses you use and altering the amounts to under $1K hides anything from them? If they wanted to, they could very easily look at accounts and determine who is using it for MS. I just went back and looked at my records. My first $1K transfer was in Feb., 2011. I've done full $1K each way since then...with maybe a month or two missed here or there. So either I am just lucky or Amazon doesn't really care. If you want to do A-B-C-D-E-Grandma-Uncle Joey-A....by all means, knock yourself out. But don't kid yourself into thinking you are outsmarting them with this tactic. If anything, I'd argue this looks more suspicious and brings more attention to your account. Eventually this will dry up anyway...so why make it more difficult than it needs to be? Still going strong. Agree it will dry up eventually and also agree it will dry up for the A, B, C, D, E...Z the same as it will for the A to B and back. |

No, AP can't know the names on the account they ACH deposit to.

I haven't heard of BB shutdowns. What was the reason? I would guess some identity mismatch.

Can you liquidate other gift cards via AP? Yes. Note that you cannot liquidate the full value of a GC because amazon places a $1 hold while it verifies the validity of the GC. You can sometimes (not always) avoid the hold by entering an incorrect expiration date for the GC when adding it to your AP account, and after you have added it, go to "Edit my account settings," then to "Add edit or delete my credit cards" and edit the expiration date there. As a data point it looks like Simon Mall VGCs are not charged a $1 auth so pretty easy to get full value. |

Regarding above statement from Wiki, has anyone found an easier way of doing this or an easier way of extracting full value of GC via AP in general?

Hi,
May I know whether I can send the money from my AP to my own Serve or BlueBird account as direct deposit, or the recipient must be a different person? Is the linked bank account allowed to withdraw money sent from another AP only? If I load $1,000 into AP with my own credit card, then receive $500 from another AP, will Amazon allow me to withdraw $500 only to my linked bank account, and the remain $1,000 must be sent to another AP or Amazon gift card? Thanks. |
Amazon Payments shut down my account
I've been using Amazon Payments for a while. I didn't used every month, just occasionally. 6 months ago I started to be more aggressive and used the approach me > husband > grandma > me with no issues.
I had two accounts on my name, but never used one of them until last month. When I used it, I received an e-mail from Amazon Payments indicating that they suspended one of my accounts because I had multiple accounts. Not too bad! I never used the account anyway; but my account was flagged for this. This month I tried the same approach me > husband > grandma > me. The first two transactions went through ok, but when I sent the money from grandma's account to mine, I received the same e-mail and the account was suspended too! also for having multiple accounts. In this case this was the only account she owned. I think Amazon Payments is taking measures regarding manufacture spending! Be careful! |
