MHUpgrade is MH's implementation of Plusgrade's bid on an upgrade platform.
  • You can check if your itinerary is eligible for bidding on an upgrade (most are) on MH's website here, but it typically takes 24-48 hours after the ticket is issued for the itinerary to be in Plusgrade's system
  • You cannot bid for flights departing within 72 hours
  • Minimum bids are dynamically set based on various factors, and don't appear to change as you get closer to flight departure
  • Tip: If you're bidding the minimum, you should consider making the bid in USD unless bidding in your home currency avoids credit card costs that are higher than the difference in pricing (see this post)
  • Bid amounts can be changed or withdrawn up to 72 hours from flight departure. It does not appear that you can update the credit card number
  • Accepted bids will be processed within the 72 hours window, generally prior to 48 hours to departure
  • If your bid is accepted:
    • The credit card will be charged
    • You will be rebooked in "I" class for business class, "P" class for first class
    • You will receive an email notification from Plusgrade
    • You will receive an email with your new eTicket from the airline
  • Within MH Enrich, mileage accrual is based on the fare class on your original ticket. For partner programs, without manual intervention, your mileage accrual is based on the class you've been rebooked into, not the one from your original ticket. Retro claims based on original booking may be required, it is unclear yet if they will be accepted or not.
    • Note that "I" earns nothing, including no segment credits or tier points (it's as if you never took the flight) on AA, BA, CX, and probably other carriers (check your program's information), so from a frequent flyer standpoint you might end up worse off
    • There are multiple reports from multiple users in this thread that mileage on partner programs (BA) will be credited based on the earning rates (if any) from original booking class, following manual intervention/claim.
  • Please read MH's FAQs

I just got a successful upgrade from economy to business from KUL to MNL. Paid an equivalent to $149usd for the upgrade.

Does anyone know what fare class the upgrade will be? I wanted to see if the flight go towards my Cathay Marco Polo points.

Thanks in advance

Not sure how it works for Marco Polo but for other OW program I usually receive the miles from the Eco ticket I purchased before the upgrade

If you credit the flights to Marco Polo Club, it'll be credited as I class as RA-Wannabe and TGflyergirl have said. You won't get any miles or club points if you do so.

I've heard anecdotal stories that when non-MH miles were not automatically credited (based on original booking class, not the converted I-class), contacting (in your case) CX customer service can help you get your club points credited, as long as your original booking class is eligible. (Using the https://www.cathaypacific.com/cx/en_...ub-points.html points calculator looks like only Y,B,H,K and M is eligible on MH flights)

But since it's heard from a fellow traveler, take it with a pinch of salt. I couldn't find any official information online about it, but no harm trying right? Let us know if you do please!

From my experience most MH economy fares, at least the ones bookable online, are not eligible for any MPC club points or Asia Miles anyways, and upgrading through MH Upgrade definitely won't earn any on CX as well.

Does anyone know if the minimum bidding goes up or down as it gets near departure?
400 usd for NRT KUL seems too steep.

Two of us upgraded MH 179 - KIX (Osaka) to KUL for MYR 576 (US$ 142) each.
Aircraft was 737 so business class was recliner seats - worth it to us as flight left KUL at 11 PM and we slept most of the 3.5 hours

MH179 is KUL-CMB not KIX...also Malindo in J to be had for about that price most of the time.

MH has only a daily flights out of KIX MH53, usually on a A330, which departs on 9:55.

Hey guys we booked a one way ticket transiting via KL from siem reap to kch but not getting any mhupgrade email. Checked the website and itpi showing not eligible for upgrade. The ticket is already more than 2 weeks old.

I remember 2 years back i usually get the upgrade bidding email after 48 hours, that is not the case now?

Any idea why imI not inttgmg it?

that would usually imply that you have booked an ineligible fare class
