Yes , but we would have required a regular dining table with the amounts we or rather , I had .
Ordered ala carte as I generally do not do buffets ( was served at Chiva Som too ) due to allergies , food & otherwise .
Seems usual for only a couple of tables occupied indoors at The Verandah , the peace & quiet experienced behoves this Grande Dame ( now that this is being posted , hope this sedate tranquility will not be lost ! ) .
The tables are arranged so that you get the view of the river , just a matter of degree and where you face , sans the busyness & humidity outside at The Terrace .

MOBKK limo transfer We arranged to be picked up from Chiva Som , Hua Hin , in MOBKK €˜ s BMW 7 L series . This is not our normal practice , usually airport round trips , but it may become the norm The MOBKK chauffeurs are all very skilled for Bangkok traffic / Thai roads ( other AMANjunkies & MO fans share similar views with me ) .The Chiva Som to MOBKK transfer this time took about 3 smooth hours .and in a comfortable vehicle we are accustomed too . Cool AC about 16 C . It took longer 14 years ago when the expressways were not ready . Check In We were warmly welcomed on arrival & brought to our suite immediately for check in . It was swift & explanations given about the suite .
Anyway we also love the hotel and look forward to the renovations although I do love my state room having stayed in the exact same one numerous times over the years so hope that view doesn’t change!

I fully agree with all of These comments! We just missed each other at the hotel. In fact we were also in a State Room in the River wing on a different floor. I love these rooms and this hotel. So sorry we misconnected but I aggree after many stays here and having tried other hotels in BKK in the last years ( Pen, Siam, Ex Four Seasons) this is my absolute favorite for location, views, service, everything. I must say we did not eat much there on this trip as like to try the many great restaurants in BKK. But have had dinner on several past trips at Normandie and it is lovely and a nice treat! This time our dining highlight was offsite at Gaggan - 25 tiny courses of modern Indian cuisine, I highly recommend but be prepared to spend a good 3+ hours! But a great experience with delicious food. The MO made the res for us about a month in advance which is necessary.

Love the State Rooms too .
The views should be similar and I hope the bath / dressing areas will still have a view
Stayed at a few other hotels previously too , The Sukothai , ex FS .. think few hotels here owned by friends .
Have even passed complimentary stays at a few including COMO Metropolitan . Will try not to pass again this year .

Yes, but room service breakfast at any of the worlds great hotels is a wonderful experience. Dining right on this river is rather unique and special. I know there are a few drawbacks, but there aren't many other places like it. I think it's a good idea to do both. Some days in the room and some by the river. Maybe save your times by the river for when you wake up very early and are one of the first customers. Much nicer that way!

I remember the buffet being mass chaos and would definitely not care to repeat being down there. FlyerEC's suite and room service would do quite nicely!

I just remember their waffles being crispy and thin with a generous helping of tropical fruit (papaya, dragonfruit and mango) on the side. Delectable.

I was looking at going for Mrs. Pickles birthday (we go pretty much every year) but saw the renovation program and decided to pass this year. What's most disturbing is that the rates for what remaining rooms are available are astoundingly ridiculous. Rather weird to be charging high-season rates for a hotel with no pool, no lobby, no outdoor restaurants, and probably a continuous noisy construction site.

Nope. Over the (roughly) two decades of staying there I have concluded that the MO Bangkok is my favorite hotel in the whole world. I can distinctly recall a number of service flourishes that go well above and beyond great service and into the realm of the legendary. Like the one time Mrs. Pickles and I showed up covered in vomit (we both got some form of food poisoning on the plane or before and were in bad shape) and were welcomed as long lost family, not even a twitch from the front desk about our pungent condition. Or the time Amanda Hyndman was escorting some big shots (some foreign minister or another) on their way out as we were arriving from the airport, and Mrs. Pickles and I were greeted by Amanda by name. Trick is, this was in 2012 and this was our first time there since she became GM, and we had never met.
