Ditto & definitely about loathing the outdoors buffet .
Yes , but we would have required a regular dining table with the amounts we or rather , I had .
Ordered ala carte as I generally do not do buffets ( was served at Chiva Som too ) due to allergies , food & otherwise .
Seems usual for only a couple of tables occupied indoors at The Verandah , the peace & quiet experienced behoves this Grande Dame ( now that this is being posted , hope this sedate tranquility will not be lost ! ) .
The tables are arranged so that you get the view of the river , just a matter of degree and where you face , sans the busyness & humidity outside at The Terrace .

It was swift & explanations given about the suite .
I fully agree with all of These comments! We just missed each other at the hotel. In fact we were also in a State Room in the River wing on a different floor. I love these rooms and this hotel. So sorry we misconnected but I aggree after many stays here and having tried other hotels in BKK in the last years ( Pen, Siam, Ex Four Seasons) this is my absolute favorite for location, views, service, everything. I must say we did not eat much there on this trip as like to try the many great restaurants in BKK. But have had dinner on several past trips at Normandie and it is lovely and a nice treat! This time our dining highlight was offsite at Gaggan - 25 tiny courses of modern Indian cuisine, I highly recommend but be prepared to spend a good 3+ hours! But a great experience with delicious food. The MO made the res for us about a month in advance which is necessary.

Anyway we also love the hotel and look forward to the renovations although I do love my state room having stayed in the exact same one numerous times over the years so hope that view doesn’t change!

Yes , missed seeing you by couple of minutes at least once ! Glad we chatted for a bit , thanks to MOBKK concierge fast work / quick thinking .

Love the State Rooms too .
The views should be similar and I hope the bath / dressing areas will still have a view

Stayed at a few other hotels previously too , The Sukothai , ex FS .. think few hotels here owned by friends .
Have even passed complimentary stays at a few including COMO Metropolitan . Will try not to pass again this year .

Yes, but room service breakfast at any of the worlds great hotels is a wonderful experience. Dining right on this river is rather unique and special. I know there are a few drawbacks, but there aren't many other places like it. I think it's a good idea to do both. Some days in the room and some by the river. Maybe save your times by the river for when you wake up very early and are one of the first customers. Much nicer that way!

I just remember their waffles being crispy and thin with a generous helping of tropical fruit (papaya, dragonfruit and mango) on the side. Delectable.

I remember the buffet being mass chaos and would definitely not care to repeat being down there. FlyerEC's suite and room service would do quite nicely!

Our breakfasts were just superb , copious quantities ( one of us reading this , sort of knows what part - only part - of what one of mine was like ) & outstanding quality . As we are not allowed to post photos of our meals , I cannot share with you but you get the picture .. I just posted another photo in my TR which should be done bar typo corrections ..
