Amangiri Trip Reports (combined threads)

I were at Amangiri 1 month ago. Agree with your travel advice, the drive form Vegas is easy. If you like, you can drive through Zion (did it by "accident" on the way to Amangiri). It´s perhaps + 1 hour. A problem is, that Amangiri is on no Navigation-system (nice, if you don´t have a map and your wife is telling you all the time you are wrong). You must type in: Kanab, Larkspur Road. It brings you to tzhe main gate. The discription on the Amangiri-website is a joke.

The resort looks very nice.

Being somewhat familiar with the area, there are actually a lot of choices for how to reach Page, AZ. If you just want to get to/from Amangiri as quickly and conveniently as possible, you can't beat Page airport. Scenic drives are available in every direction: Vegas, St. George (a few hours closer, not so scenic between Vegas/St. George anyway), Phoenix/Flagstaff (Grand Canyon side-trip), Moab/Arches NP to the north, or even SW Colorado (pass through Four Corners/Monument Valley, ski in Telluride before/after? ).
Most of these airports are ~300 miles away and would make for a lovely day (with very diverse scenery) for an ambitious and energetic traveler with extra time.
Thanks aa213bb for your excellent photos and writing so far, look forward to the remaining posts!

It's a lovely drive, with a lot of changes in scenery along the way. I seem to recall that someone at Amangiri told us that this route can be impacted by winter weather (unlike route from LAS). This isn't surprising, given you have to go through Flagstaff.

Exactly.
Have only been to the Sri Lankan ones (thus far), so I am not sure I am best qualified to comment. Perhaps someone else will chime in?
Thank you!

nice centering [ center ] i will have to do that in future.
especially informative pic. Pool Suite openings in wood should start higher. this seems to not be the case. i wonder if this will ever change. (im assuming this is about natural light when walls are high?)
ah right, when its hot.
maximum 68 adults PLUS 68 children (excl 4BR villa)
good to hear.

Maximum occupancy is four guests with a maximum of three adults per suite. A supplementary charge of US$125++ per night is applicable to each additional bedding arrangement per suite.
I want to note that during our welcome to the room, specific mention was made of not walking out into the desert from the room, for obvious privacy reasons. I know this has been commented upon in other posts and reviews (probably here and elsewhere), but I wanted to make sure everyone knows management is aware of the potential here, and proactively (yet tactfully) addressing it.
I am grateful, too, as I would hate to have my gorgeous, serene vistas spoiled

Honestly, my issue with the pool had less to do with the openings in the wood, and more to do with the fact that the pool was literally around a foot away from the only path - and you could hear everyone walking by. So even if you (mostly) had privacy, it didn't feel like you did, since you could hear everyone walking by.
The pools in the 'named' suites were different and not enclosed. So that was nice. Problem there is that (at least in the girijaala suite, where we stayed), you are still right next to other suites - and folks would tend to walk out into the desert just to see into the 'big' suite.
I'm glad they are asking people to not walk out into the desert, but I'm not sure how much impact this will have. People will do what they want to do and many people who are paying $1000+ think they have a right do to whatever they want, despite what they are told by resort employees. Sadly, the time to have thought of this was during design and not well after the fact.
