random thought >

reporting on a good experience is not hype

service varies and peaks, and staff changes

Hyatt acquires Two Roads Hospitality, including Alila Hotels (including Ventana Big Sur), Destination Hotels (including Villa de Sol Zihuatanejo, The Carolina Inn, Chapel Hill, NC and Stowe Mountain Resort, VT), Joie de Vivre, and Thompson Hotels.

I'll be very particularly curious to see what happens with Ventana Big Sur and the Alila brand now. We are booked already to stay at Ventana Big Sur in May 2019.

Hyatt has a bit of experience in rebranding Alila properties. Hadahaa made a good Park Hyatt and I expect to see more of this happening. Quite similar in standards.

Very curious to see what happens next.... Park Hyatt Manggis, Bali? If owners agree, could happen.

alila manggis likely owned by corporate, founder is ex GHM / aman partner

15 years ago, when Zecha launched the Serai resort in Bali, built on land he borrowed from longtime friend Franky Tjahyadikarta, owner of Alila Hotels...sold the Serai to Tjahyadikarta, who currently runs it as the Alila Manggis. "At the time, I was too busy with Aman, and Franky wanted his land back,"

a reason to fly UA at LAX - discounted access to Private Suite @ LAX for UA
theprivatesuite.com
private terminal completely avoids LAX

UA option is shared area vs private room, i think only difference vs booking direct

im guessing UA leased the shared lounge, as it used to be an option when booking direct

for families and kids, there is also a photo on website now of tents in an outdoor area

again this is the first paid offering like this in US, including handling international arrivals

re LAX in recent survey - for big US airports, LAX tied with ORD for 2nd worst behind BOS

wonder if this was typical of disputes 15+ years ago
bizjournals.com/houston/stories/1997/08/11/story2.html
guests at the Houston hotel awoke Saturday morning to find notices slipped under their doors advising them that they were no longer staying at the Ritz.
