Was on the way to Amanusa and Amandari but the possible volcanic eruption put a cramp in our plans. I am more concerned with the airport shutting down and not being able to leave... hopefully will make a detour to Sri Lanka instead.

A luxury London hotel might be a very pleasant way to spend Christmas. Never done it myself, though have spent time at country hotels and prayed for great weather for bracing walks. Prayers never answered, by the way. There does seem to be plenty of availability at the Connaught but I can't find anything about a Christmas offer or any idea of what sort of thing the hotel might be doing, especially in its restaurants. I Googled 'Christmas at the Connaught' and got a thing basically saying 'Christmas 2016 has passed so this offer has expired'

My Christmas will be spent aboard a ship off the west coast of Chile. Roast penguin will make a change from turkey.

Haha, I shall send/post many photos...and yes, FS Lana'i is expected to be #1 but I'm told Hualalai could surprise me

Haha yes, I'm on the east coast of the States so if I'm trekking all the way out to Hawaii, I'm making most of it...won't even need to unpack the luggage
