Hello! I found this thread after countless googling on short connections in Frankfurt 
This seemed like an extremely helpful place to maybe calm some of my nerves. I'm asking for my mom, who is traveling with Lufthansa from SEA - FRA - BCN. She has a 1hr 20min connection, and she is the type of person who likes to have a good idea knowing what to expect going in.
I believe she's flying into Pier Z, but does anyone know where Lufthansa flights to BCN typically leave? It is LH 1126, if that helps.
From the research I've done, she will have to leave Pier Z to go through passport control, go through security, and then go to her departing gate for BCN. I've already alerted her about the Fast Lanes, if she is tight on time. Her bag should be checked all the way to BCN, if I'm correct.
Have I missed anything? Any other advice? I tried to read a lot of the thread but 255 pages is a lot!

Yes bags will be checked to BCN.
No security check when arriving from the US, only passport control.
Flight to BCN should depart from A which is below Z.

Not really much to do. Go landside and have some decent Thai food at Thong Thai for super-budget prices (5 to 8 euro, T1 A).
Or, go landside, take the skyline train to T2, and do some planespotting. A ticket to the visitor's patio is like 3€. If you don't wanna go outside, just take a seat at the McD (level 4 at T2).
If staying airside, have a cheap eat at Heberer or purchase spirits (30% off monthly sales recommended) at Heinemann duty free.

You could elaborate on your situation:
I've deduced that you arrive from MAD (LA704) and change to KL1774 to AMS. There will be both immigration and security as LA704 doesn't depart from the Schengen zone in MAD. Online checkin will of course help.
If you believe that the incoming flight is on time, transfer in 1h40 is just about debatable. Personally I wouldn't take the risk.
