Beyond ridiculous …… they are trying to protect the callcentre before the pax ?

Yes, it’s LH responsibility, their employees & all they had to do was keep them happy = no strike

Not really for the call centre... its cancelled in waves so the rebooking bots don't rebook into flights that are about to be cancelled which then have to be rebooked again.

Doesn't this also mean that travel agencies will not be able to rebook pax if the flight is not showing as cancelled anymore? My sister is caught in this mess and dealing with Amex travel to get rebooked. LH could only offer her a flight in a week's time.

oliver2002 Jul 26, 2022 6:27 am

Amex should be able to rebook if the flight is cancelled in the system.

But that's the issue. If LH as un-cancelled the flight, Amex won't be able to rebook. Screws the pax.

Edit: Yup. Amex is not rebooking her because they are not seeing the flight as cancelled. They're "trying to confirm what is happening".

Exactly, disgraceful of LH

That doesn't make any sense. If all the flights aren't cancelled at once, but in waves, that's exactly when you would run into this problem of being rebooked on a flight that is soon to be cancelled.

US FTL line at least gets through to hold. Unfortunately they just hung-up on me without saying anything after being on hold for 50 minutes. Hey @LufthansaGermanAirlines any suggestions on getting an actual someone on the phone?

How does one get a live agent on the chat?

I've never been able to get the option to come up

justforfun Jul 26, 2022 7:27 am

Who's responsible for rebooking? The ticket was bought through Amex travel, it's a United codeshare, Lufthansa metal. If the cancellation had happened weeks ago, I'd say Amex travel. But since the cancellation was the day before travel, shouldn't it be Lufthansa? Asking being sister is being bounced around between all three.

All flights are first zeroed out so that the bot doesn't book into them. That happened yesterday. Then the flights are cancelled in waves and rebooked automatically.

Amex purchased United flight number operated by LH: Amex should be able to handle everything in any situation as they are the owner of the ticket. They have to sort out the matter with their contact at the airline. If UA or LH take control (which they can when the flight is/was the next day) and rebook, the travel agent can no longer change the ticket.

Is it possible to just do a no show tomorrow and sort it out (rebook to another date) later, when the strike is over?

My flight (MUC-SBZ) got canceled, OLCI offers ridiculous alternatives with 2 connections and 42h travel time, and I see no option to simply move my flight to another day...

And can I claim the EU compensation if I choose not to travel at all?

Technically no, but they can revive the ticket later. If you don't want to travel, just call next week when the madness has died down.
