Assume flights on Thursday are also likely to be disrupted due to knock-on effects?

I called them and they said free re-booking is only possible after the flight has been canceled. The argument that if they book me onto the next day it will defeat the purpose of travel and lead to a cancellation did not sway them.

I would expect there to be disruption since there will be overbooking, planes in the wrong locations and the strike is scheduled until 6 AM on Thursday.

I just rebooked a trip for free. In theory I already used a free change because of a cancellation so it should have been paid this time. There wasn't much pushback but I explained that the only reason I had a flight on 27th was because of an earlier cancellation.

Anyway they let me fly one day early tomorrow.

I do have to mention that they were showing wider availability for other flights tomorrow than is being shown as bookable online. At the moment, I only see one connection via VIE. She mentioned at least four other possibilities as still being available. Or perhaps I had a bad agent. I might call again in a few minutes.

Selfish question here: will this directly affect Austrian operations? I can't really tell from the news reports, but I'm thinking Austrian employees likely have a different union and contract.

I'm sure there will be a lot of rebooking pressure onto Austrian flights though.

I notice that it is no longer possible to book any direct flights on the 27th from Munich or Frankfurt to LON. Almost all of the alternatives route through VIE and they cost 1150 EUR! for a one-way. Perhaps the strike is turning into a profit generating business strategy. :)

I do not know what their definition of "evening" is, but I would have expected the cancellations by now.

Obviously everything is zeroed out once the strike was announced

So I am one of the lucky ones to be flying WAW-FRA-LAX on the 27th on LH Metal with a UA Ticket Issued by AMEX Corp. Travel. Who the heck do I call if I get stuck?

I think: anyone who will answer.

If it were me, I'd try Amex first. They'll likely be the most customer-friendly. What I can't say is, how much power they'll have. But maybe you can get on the LOT nonstop?

What it now says in the app:

"On Tuesday, 26 July, Lufthansa will publish the cancellations in the system and try to find a solution for affected passengers. If you have left your mobile contact in your booking, Lufthansa will contact them in case of cancellation and rebooking."
