Oh, cool - I like this idea of another eVoucher, yes.
Luckily, I can enjoy the Swiss working ethos in my refugee from dumb socialist Merkelland when I fly to NYC on Thursday.

Trying to get husband home for Thanksgiving and his flight was cancelled. Booked through LH. Star Gold.

I see an available Canada Air flight but can't seem to make the change online. It directs me to call. But after an hour on hold the system hung up on me.

Anybody have a workaround to get this booked quickly before it's sold out? Can I book it on their website and get reimbursed later? Or how to make the change online? Or another number to call? Help!

Thanks.

Be VERY careful with booking anything yourself - as this is a strike they might not even protect you on OA...

Did you booked directly with LH?

This is one of the cases that a good, dedicated TA (either OTA or bricks and mortar..) could be the better choice than by booking via the airline directly.

And it shows that the usually already very much stressed customer support (talking about their regular email answering times..) from LH can't cope at all when the *** hits the fan.. other airlines definitely to better in case of a similar meltdown..

If you can't change your booking online, and you booked via LH directly, probably your best bet would be to hit an airport and/or city office from LH. Albeit they've been stripped more and more of their powers too..

Hi,

I've got a flight from IAH to Stockholm, through Frankfurt and EWR. The flight from Frankfurt to Stockholm has been cancelled.

What is the most likely thing to happen once I reach Frankfurt with my United flight ?

Will I be put on another flight like SAS etc .. ?

IF the flight to FRA operates, they'll try to get you on another flight to Stockholm indeed. Might mean SAS, might mean LX via ZRH, might mean anything.. it might also mean a night at FRA airport (you'll not like that..) - probably not in a hotel (they might be already fully occupied), but "army beds" (Feldbetten)

I have a flight from JFK to MUC on 11/23, 5:35PM, via LH411.
Another flight from MUC to PRG on 11/24, 9:15AM, via LH1688

Can someone tell if my flights are ok? I think they are cancelling all flights depart from Germany on 11/23, so my flight to Germany on 11/23 should be ok?

So far, online status seems ok.

I just called 800-645-3880 and 866-846-4283, both lines are not working....

Please help.

Thanks.

Cancelled flights for tomorrow are already announced. and LH411 is operated on the current situation.
You should watch your flight status on this site often.
Even if you talk with a LH operator, the answer is same as below.

What's with the November 21st deadline for rebooking in the waiver? It seems unreasonable.

CNN International just reported the LH strike within the last hour or two. I'm guessing that many folks are unaware that this is happening now. I also don't see anything in the International NYT this week about the strike, although the paper was much better for travel related news when it was the International Herald Tribune.

Based on my experience, lot of folks that are not based in Germany, are up for a major surprise because of the short notice. Many of them are probably en-route to their departure cities already here in India & the news is not in any of the major newspapers or TV. Some may get notifications by phone but many will only find after they reach the airport. With not many alternate options, they will have to depend entirely on the airline to make arrangements on next day flights.

I was lucky once when traveling from BOM-FRA-JFK. The strike was announced to start at noon & my flight from FRA to JFK took off half hour before noon.

I'm unhappy as I'm coming back to LH after trying out Emirates. As much as I loved the EK A380 experience, the timings do not suit me. So back with LH, booked tickets last week, flying this weekend and first thing I hear is about the strikes.

I do understand that this is out of our control but this has to end. As a loyal SEN, it concerns me.

Neither the Dutch nor the US telephone numbers work. And they have not worked for several hours.

Have a very early flight on the 24th from Istanbul to Frankfurt, not cancelled yet. The evening flight from Frankfurt to Istanbul on the 23th is cancelled. Not sure what plane they are planning to use for my flight. Now of course they could just fly an aircraft to Istanbul tonight and park it there for more than 24 hours, but it would be nice if someone from Lufthansa could update me...

Tonight's LH1304 is down to operate as per schedule, meaning that the aircraft in question (D-AIZY, according to FR24) will likely be deployed to operate the 1305 morning service to FRA on the 24th. If your flights is showing as scheduled on the day you're travelling, then I'm not entirely sure why LH should give you any update.

Well, if they could confirm that your thinking is correct, that would be much appreciated. The flight to Frankfurt is followed by a rather important First class flight to Mumbai...
