The ticket is what matters. LH has introduced light fares across the atlantic for some markets, but not US-India.

Perfect. Thank you for your replies. Yes, I was able to confirm the allowance on Brussels website too (outside of my ticket) which says US-India is 2pc system, no lite fares.

I apologize if this has been discussed else where. Does "light" fare class include advanced seat assignment? TIA.

Well you can pay for it, generally. Which is also not always the case.

So I have a light fare coming up to Vienna and paid for regular seat assignments. It looks like I will have to pay for my luggage as well. Oh well

I have a J ticket BKK-ZRH on LX and considering to buy a separate ticket ZRH-AMS (LX as well) with short layover in ZRH. Will I be able to tag my bag in BKK all the way to AMS and what if the short flight ZRH-AMS is a light fare? I am *Gold although I do not think it matters for this situation.

Certainly LX in BKK would check your bags through to AMS on seperate tickets but if the agent picks up that your onward is light fare without a bag you would need to pay for that.
Its cheaper to pay for the bag online than at the airport.

Yeah, that only applies for long haul, where HBO was recently introduced.
On short haul flights, there is no 0+1 in LH Group.

But what if I have a feeder flight from AMS to FRA on LH and then to BKK? Can I still check in one bag at AMS?

I would limit this statement to booked as a single ticket. You can have multiple tickets associated with a single PNR.

It's L and T class on the FRA-BKK and BKK-FRA segments but it does not say Economy Light on the AMS-FRA and FRA-AMS segments so I think I should be good.
Anyway, thank you for your help. ^

BTW, what do they allow like a small bag/suitcase + one personal item? Or is it just 1 small bag/suitcase?
