If Lufthansa Technik was spun off I would invest in that.

Lufthansa is not straightforward on fuel being the major driver of improvement.
There is even a mismatch on the fuel expenses decrease:
In the presentation (slide 5) Fuel Cost is down 5.7% YoY
But in the data sheet and press release Fuel Cost is actually down 7.4% YoY

My 3 bullets summary for 1H 2014:
- Fuel and Depreciation down a combined 412mio yet results only improved 41mio
- SCORE is a zero sum game. Whatever is being taken out of cost is hurting the revenue.
- Outlook worsening.

General agree.

I would lean toward an error on the presentation slide. Actual numbers point to a -7.4% change in fuel expenses. 1H2013 = 3503MM€, 1H2014 = 3243MM€. Interestingly, 1.1% more offered capacity on 2.2% fewer flights.

They retrofitted the 343s taking out F and adding C/F seats and took delivery of A380 and 748, which have more seating @:-)

Well, 2010-11 they added extra rows in A32S and B737 when retrofitting to NEK. Then they usually convert 12 C seats to 24 Y seats in quite a few A340/330 aircraft in summer (ie a A330 goes from 8F/48C/161Y to 8/36/185). Then they are retiring the CR7 for E19x deliveries, the B733 and 735 for A320 etc etc.

So there are quite a few more ways the ASK number went up. Of course a few months ago some in this thread claimed the curtain in A32S flights was purposely moved back a few rows to reduce ASK and subsquently increase RASK.

I think that is what GBM.Flights is saying. The slide is misrepresenting the data.

Stock price -7.29% today.

To be fair, the DAX plunged almost 2% today with the spectacular fall of Adidas (over 15%).

In any case, it is clear that investors are enjoying neither the picture nor the numbers released by LH.

Doesn't that basically mean that the index would have stayed +/- on 0%, taking out the heavy influence of Adidas and LH?

It seems that LH will keep going on it's downwards spiral..

Less earnings mean more cost cuts mean less earnings mean more cost cuts..

At least there was some good PR for LH today.
Carsten Spohr was voten man of the day by BILD newspaper, as the "FANHANSA" 747-800 will keep this logo for the next two years.

Wall Street Journal did not seem quite as excited as BILD

LH summary of the PR to employees:

Schlamp plant keine größeren Veränderungen an seinem Bewertungsmodell. / Quelle: dpa-AFX Broker

Lufthansa schreibt erneut Verluste

Interesting to read that DZ banks has €20 as their share price target.
Seems to be quite an isolated opinion.
