It does. If there's no space available to partners then it's a pretty sure bet it's not available at bargain price either.

...and what if it's the other way around? If partner space is available you suggest faithful should convert his/her SPG points into M&M miles and then check if Meilenschnäppchen are available once the miles have posted? I wouldn't call that great advice.

Here's a quick reality check of your theory - my first shot in the dark:

Looking for partner awards on UA.com for FRA-ORD-FRA in C, March, 1 to March, 7 (and all the dates in between): zero availability in both directions on all days.

According to your theory, this would mean "a pretty sure bet it's not available at bargain price either".

However, looking for Meilenschnäppchen FRA-ORD-FRA in C, March, 1 to March, 7 (and all the dates in between): on m&m.com: Meilenschnäppchen @55k are available every single day in both directions.

@faithful: let us know your route, dates and number of pax and we can check it for you. Of course, there won't be any guarantee that Meilenschnäppchen would still be available by the time your SPG to M&M transfer posts (and you can't reserve and hold Meilenschnäppchen over the phone as you could do with regular awards).

Wouldn't either. That's why I said it gives a general idea and not 100% guarantee.

Pretty excited about the 55K deal from Brussels to YVR this month.

Silly question, but I never used miles to buy a mileage bargain ticket. Does one have time until the end of the month to purchase such a ticket at the discounted price? Or do they "disappear" fast within the promo period?

As with all awards, they tend to disappear quickly for the most attractive routes and dates. If you found what you wanted, you should probably lock it in.

After starting this topic and complaining about this frustrating situation, I must be fair and let you all know that I have been helped out by the M&M hotline in Germany.
The Belgian hotline was not really helpful, but some very nice lady from Germany helped me out and managed to book me and my family a business class flight to Mexico City.
She understood my disappointment, asked if it was ok if she calls me back later.
A day later received a phonecall, she told me that she found something and if it was ok for her to book it.

So yay, we got helped out. Very grateful that this lady was really really kind and got us on this flight.
But still my feeling about these so called bargains didn't change, if you show off with promotion, it would be a good idea to actually promote something to make your loyal customers happy and not to get them frustrated...

Happy I got helped out, but at some point, I will be in the same situation again as I was earlier.

For others trying to figure out what "this topic" was, here's a link: post #413.

So, you're saying the hotline was able to book a "mileage bargain" award for you (to MEX during the November promo period) that you were not able to find online?

How bad are the fuel surcharges and taxes on C class flights to North America or Asia?

I think that's for return flights, but I agree: really bad.

To Asia it could be cheaper to book to one-ways (no fuel surcharges from Hong Kong or Japan on direct flights). Also, Singapore Airlines does not seem to charge a fuel surcharge.

Mileage bargains can not be booked as oneways.
