Update: The issue turned out to be related to travel dates. I was trying to depart during the open dates and return *after* the included dates, so it wouldn't let me book. When I searched both dates in the applicable period, it seems to work.
>>>I'm having trouble booking mileage bargains for April travel.
When I search for business class 55,000 mileage bargain awards from meilenschnaeppchen.de, I either see "no availability for six days surrounding your dates" or the results show only 105,000 mile options. No matter which origin and departure cities I choose, none fo them have any 55,000 mile seats.
Is anyone else having trouble?

I looked at YUL-ZRH in Economy, on offer for 30'000 miles via FRA. It was available for the dates I desired. But the total cash co-pay for this ticket was CAD710.
For the same dates, the nonstop YUL-ZRH flights in Economy can be bought for CAD900.
I knew Miles&More has poor value in Y, but I had no idea that it is this terrible. Imagine redeeming the regular 60k for this!

Does anyone have any experience with booking Economy European mileage bargains with SWISS ? Since they have made their whole offer à la carte these days, I am not sure what an award ticket would get me. Looking at the Moscow route from Geneva. Do I get a free checked bag, catering? I would assume that award bookings probably book into Economy Classic, but I was just wondering if anyone knew for sure.

An interesting change to the mileage bargains this time. I see that Croatia Airlines is up for grabs among the mileage bargains, which is a first. It seems that the whole network is available for travel in June. Despite that, I think I would wait until closer to the time and pay a bit more (30,000 instead of 25,000) for a FlySmart award.

Indeed that was the case, I should have fed back about this before. It books into Economy Classic and you get a checked bag included and some basic catering.

I suppose during the peak summer vacation time less business travelers and thus more I class availability? The majority of holiday travelers still travel in Y and flights to the US will be booked solid in Y in July and August (at high fares)

Well, summer vacay is the time the LH core customers want to cash in their miles to take the wife and kids to a vacation spot. Often the business cabin is full of manager types with their family in July/August. Heck even I booked NYC/WAS on LH in C with miles this August.
