For anything more complex than what the M&M site can offer you will have to call to make an award booking. You will find M&M agents on average are better than DC ICC agents but it doesn't harm to check availability on the LAS-LAX leg in advance.

Yes, you need to call to make a one way award booking.

Great forum for LH Newbies like myself. I am sure a few of the questions have been answered before so if anyone can just share the posting link that would be great!

Just a couple quick questions. We are flying the following routing this summer:

EWR > DUS (330 in F)
DUS > LYS (CR7 in Economy :P)
CDG> FRA > EWR (737 and 340 in F)

1. What lounge amenities are provided at EWR for First Class passengers? My last trip to LH was in J and I vaguely remember using the SAS Lounge.

2. Any trip reports or what to expect during our flight in F on a 330/340?

3. For our return leg home our current connection time (CGD > FRA > EWR) is around 40 mins. According to my research this connection is not valid.

Am I correct in my understanding of FRA connections?

What amenities are provided in the FRA First Class lounge? Are they worth moving our CDG > FRA flight earlier?

Thanks in advance for any help!

CPH roundtrip MAD - LH mini mileage run

Hi there. I got an upcoming trip to MAD where I will have to fly out as late as possible (LH6225 [SK] and LH1120 [LH], unless I didn't see some better option).

Now I could fly back during the weekend on a direct connection with JK (which I didn't enjoy very much recently) or SK.

OR I could do something more fancy to get some miles with either LH, Aegean or SAS (or any combination of those), if the ticket price stays reasonable (< ~500 EUR). That's where I'm asking you for help/advice: I thought about flying back via MAD - MXP - FRA - CPH, all LH metal, which would give 500 miles flat per leg(?) on Aegean or 1000 if I manage to book it in G or Q. Also it seems to be quite similarly priced to a LH connection without the additional MXP stop. Not too bad so far. But maybe there is something nicer to do? I'm usually choosing the quickest connections so I'm not experienced at all in how to find these things. Advice is appreciated.

Also could someone give a rough price for outbound S/V (not much reason in paying a lot of difference to get it to Q for only one LH leg) and Q/G on the return flight, with and without the MXP stop? As far as I've seen it is about 480 EUR, but I'd better double check. Thank you.

In EWR there is no First Class Lounge so you will have to use the Senator Lounge in Terminal B 3, Satellite/Gate Area. Again in DUS there is no First Class Lounge but you will have access to the Senator Lounge.

Here are links to assorted trip reports (at least some segments on LH F) which may give you some idea. Apart from the A380 the First Class cabins on LH are basically the same (744 currently has 16 F seats on the upper deck, 330/330 have 8 F seats). I hope they will give you some idea of what to expect.

The minimum connecting time (MCT) in FRA involving an intercontinental flight is 60 mins. Therefore your connection seems to be illegal.

What amenities are provided in the FRA First Class lounge? Are they worth moving our CDG > FRA flight earlier?
Some of the reports above also cover FRA First Class Terminal/Lounge and if you haven't been there it's worth changing to an earlier flight from CDG, not just to visit a lounge but because the current connection may be illegal. You can read about the facilities in the First Class Terminal (strictly speaking a departure terminal) and First Class Lounges at FRA on lufthansa.com.

Hi there.

Passengers on *A flights with Frequent Traveller status (in Miles and More) can access lounges even when travelling in economy.. but can they take another passenger (no status) to lounge with them if he is on same booking?

Thanks for your help

Yes, FTL can access Business Lounges where they exist regardless of the class of travel but they cannot invite a guest free of charge. You can buy access by your travelling companions to selected LH business lounges for €25 or US$35.

Newbie Runner -

Thank you for the response - it is very helpful.

Does DUS at least have a Welcome Lounge that we might be able to use to shower?

Unfortunately I booked my flight (as an award) through Air Canada and they say 40 mins is enough to make the connection and therefore they will not change my flight. They argue that LH ticketed the flight and therefore the connection is valid.

Was hoping to take advantage of FC Lounge time at FRA.

To be a little more precise, FTL can access Business lounges of M&M integrated airlines. Swiss seems to be a bit more generous with regards to contract lounges.

DUS does not have a Welcome Lounge (the only LH Welcome Lounge is in FRA) but the Senator Lounge does have showers.

Are you flying on LH402 connecting from LH1029? I checked a few random dates in July. LH1029 is scheduled to arrive in FRA at 12:05 and LH402 departs at 13:20. That's 75 mins and much more realistic. It still doesn't give you much time for the First Class Lounge but if you are lucky you may be able to pay a very brief visit to the FCL A.

Newbie runner, I looked up the LH-LH MCT table in FRA in Amadeus and it yields some interesting facts (look at the LH 710 timings ). Maybe you can add that to the FRA connection thread:

Code:

Thank you.
Is your Mileage run on M&M or on Aegean?
If you have a bit of flexibility (ie, can leave CPH 2 hours earlier than the FRA Flight, not ideal if you really have to get the latest possible flight), you could maybe get an LX Business Saver (the reason I ask about Aegean is I don't know if they'll give you the Miles for the original Fare Bucket or the upgraded one - effectively it's a Y fare that automatically gets upgraded).

Anyway, looking at the Weekend after next, you could do the roundtrip via Zurich in C for DKK4026 (~540€), which, in M&M at least, yields 8000 Miles. Only downside is the times aren't very convenient...

Newbie Runner,

After much huffing and puffing with AC Reservations I was able to update the record (Upgrading my DUS > LYS to Business and an earlier flight of out CDG)

Thankfully no we can use the DUS lounge before our flight.

The issue according to LH is AC uses outdated connection time min. (45 vs 60)

We were on:

LH1037 > LH484

We are now on:

LH1035 > LH484

Longer connection time but at least we will not be rushed and can enjoy the services in FRA>

Either. May be Aegean makes more sense in my situation.

I do not have flexibility for the outbound flight, I got to be on the latest possible. Hence LX won't work I'm afraid, unless the SK flight has a LX number as well (which I didn't see).

Is that billed as Economy then or is that billed as Business? For company rules I will not be allowed to hand in Business bookings, however there is no additional rules except common sense for Economy bookings.

I guess there is no way of doing something similar with the latest connection CPH-MAD outbound (which I believe is SK metal)?

Sorry, won't work then. For the Business saver fares, it has to be on LX metal. And the Ticket does say Business, though it uses the Y booking restrictions.

That sounds much better. ^
It will give you time to sample the First Class Lounge as well as being "legal".

As arriving F passengers you should have access to the Senator Lounge in DUS anyway but don't expect LH European Business Class to be anything to write home about!
