Any updated thoughts on the venezia tower. i didnt get a bad rate there for a normal suite with confired upgrade to venezia suite.
but the palazzo has a $179 pn suite rate. I called the hotel and even the girl in res said that the hotel is still under construction and she would pick the Venetian:cool: so im a bit torn as to paying $219 or $179 for 4 nights. |

As far as the construction goes, I didn't see a whole lot of construction in the hotel itself. Most of it seems to be going on in the Grand Canal Shops. I'd call back and ask if any floors in the hotel are still under construction, and if so, just ask not to be put on any of those floors. I was on floor 15 and there was no construction on that floor and everything worked fine in my room. |
Piping in perfume
Well I guess the Venetian is finally smelling the smoke that emanates from their whole property. On a local radio station show, one of the members of the show discussed that she went to the Venetian over the weekend and smelled an overpowering "flowery" perfume being piped into the casino. A caller said the same thing and that it was just too strong and they had to leave. Eventually the discussion turned into a trick/conspiracy theory that the perfume was designed to make everyone spend/gamble more a la the oxygen urban legend.

Canaletto in the Canal shops has one of the best osso bucco I have ever had, for anyone who is a fan of that veal shank dish. There is a steakhouse in the Venetian which I did not visit but a co-worker raved about. The seafood restaurant (I am no good with names but it is decorated in all shades of blue and is next to Cafe Pinot) had lovely scallops and also lovely crabcakes. The only restaurant in the Venetian that I was not overly impressed with was Cafe Pinot which is a mostly breakfast place. |

Steakhouse
The steakhouse is Delmonico's. It's a great place to eat but very pricey. If you just want a decent steak do Grand Lux. If you have to have the best, and if you've won some $, do Delmonico's.
A good alternative to these is the Top of the World restaurant at the Strat. If this is your first trip to Vegas, you shouldn't miss it. A little pricey (about $120-150/couple including a couple of drinks,) but the BEST view ever. Go at twilight. You and mom will love it. Good luck! |

I love Mario on all the Food Network shows so would like to try one of his (one of the three seems a little too foodie for my tastes...).....I do like the Top of the World restaurant suggestion, thank you so much for that! (It is my first trip to Vegas) And after dropping $400 for a medicore meal for two at a snooty French restaurant in London.....anything less than that I'm happy with as long as it's good food and service. :) I do love Commander's Palace in Nawlins and haven't eaten there since pre-Katrina so I'd be happy for any reviews on the Vegas outpost. And what time is twilight in Vegas in mid-July? |
