I'll be staying at the Venetian for the first time next week and have a couple questions that I was hoping someone could weigh in on:

1) I am booked at the Venezia tower. Is there a separate check in or can I go to the regular check in?

2) Based on what I've read here, the Venezia tower seems a little outdated compared to the more recently renovated regular tower. It also seems far from the pool, Tao, etc. Do they ever upgrade from the Venezia to regular tower? Should I be tipping at check in? It is an AMEX FHR reservation, for what it's worth.

3) What route should I tell the taxi driver? Will be arriving between 4pm-8pm (flight not booked yet).

4) What club should we be going to on Wed night? I know its mid-week, but we want to get started early. Will be three guys at this point.

5) Will Tao Beach be crowded on Thursday? Again, three guys on Thursday.

Really appreciate the help.

Two things I can tell you about the Venetian, neither of which answer your questions but might still be of interest.

(1) The entire property smells of some kind of perfume spray. It makes me nauseous but others I know don't really mind/notice it.

(2) There is a great little mexican restaurant on the canal.
Taqueria Canonita. Go there and get a table along the canal. And they are on opentable so you can get dining points to boot.

You can check in at the reception of the Venetian or take the elevators up to the Venezia tower check in. If there is no line at Venetian reception you should just check in there as they may not have anyone at Venezia reception if it is slow.

Yes, Venezia tower has the dated rooms and it is a bit of a hike to anywhere in the main casino of Venetian. With FHR you should be getting an upgrade if there is availability. You can ask for an upgrade in the Venetian tower and see how it goes.

Just tell taxi to take Koval Lane.

I'm sure others will chime in about the clubs.

AFAIK, Venezia check-in has been closed for a while (over 6 months). All are directed to use 'regular' (or appropriate invited guest/VIP) check-in at Venetian.

IMO no. The only difference between the two towers is that the Venetian rooms have been recently renovated.

Used to be Venezia was considered an "upgrade" when one had a Venetian room reserved. You should be able to request a room on Venetian side though you might get the "a large group just came in and we are all sold out" excuse :rolleyes:.

With exception to the Terrazzo Suites in the Venezia Tower. These are rather limited though, only 19 IIRC, and only come with two beds. Of course, this suite is only an 'upgrade' if you value an outdoor terrace/patio. (but they are on the same level as Bouchon... so, that in itself could be a big positive ;);) )

FWIW, while the Venezia suites have not been updated per the most recent Venetian room upgrade; they did replace the TVs in the suites with flat screens.

My first stay at Venetian was in September 2009 and the Venezia check-in was already closed then.

To the OP, enjoy your stay and be sure to get the chicken waffles on weekends at Bouchon!!

But back to topic, the Venezia tower is a long walk to the casino if that is what you want to do, I would take a room in Venetian over Venezia anyday

i just had 4 nites at venetian. preferred palazzo & their casinos but venetian was just as nice. last april, they upgraded us to venezia from palazzo, but after the very long walk to venezia, we turned right back around and asked for a room at palazzo as originally booked.

venezia room was cramped and felt so, how should i put it? unfriendly and uninviting and indeed a very long walk to casinos. i still don't know why they considered rooms at venezia tower are upgrades?

My impression is that they book people into the Venezia Tower these days for a reason (i.e, low-roller marketing promotions) and it's tough to switch. Won't ruin anyone's vacation, though, just a little extra walking and rooms that generally are still fine.

I'm a low roller, but get offered comps on a regular basis (we're going again next week). We actually prefer the Venezia Tower. It's quieter (when we're in the room, we want to sleep), and we like the more private hot tubs next to Bouchon (and Bouchon is one of our favorite restaurants in LV). The 10th floor check-in for the Tower is used, depending on how busy the hotel is. We checked in there as recently as 2 months ago.

another 'perk' is that the poolside menu @ the Venezia Tower pool area is serviced by Bouchon. Also, my favorite place in Vegas for breakfast. Love enjoying my cappuccino and pastry on the outside deck dining area (overlooking the pool and gardens).

Oooh, I didn't know that!

We've not yet made it to breakfast and, in any event, probably wouldn't do it in the summer (we hate the heat). If was cool, though . . . nice!
