It's a classic old-school steakhouse with modern Vegas prices. Some of the staff have been working there for 30 years. I don't pay too much attention to prices so I can't give you an exact figure for Surf and Turf but I guarantee you can get it.

The Artistes steakhouse down the hall at Paris is also nice.

Best old-school steakhouse in town is probably at the Luxor. Best new-school is Craftsteak at the MGM.

Come to think of it, it's hard to get a bad steak in Vegas.

The Range at Harrahs is also a favorite, plus it has a great view of the strip. Their menu is online: http://www.harrahs.com/images/LAS/di...ge_menu05b.pdf

I assume you're referring to the OP and not the post immediately above yours

Please give me a review of Galllagher's Steak House in the New York New York Casino, we are thinking of dining there before a show next week?

I had dinner there on the 4th of this month.
Restaurant was packed and I was alone.
So sat at the bar. Had the Filet W/ mushrooms.
Food was good. Service was excellent.
Nice "wine by the glass list".
I think with 2 wines the meal was $ 60.00
The steak was cooked just right. Nice aging.
Small portion was the only complaint.

I think I like DelMonicos in the Venetian a bit better for
Filet taste and size.
But it is also a few more $$$.

Enjoy Vegas !!!

My suggestion is to cross the street to MGM and have a meal at Craftsteak.

i have dined a few times at gallagers
good food and you will spend 60-80 for one.
for two it will not double maybe 35-40 per person more
you can share the a`la carte vegetables with 2 or 3
the cowboy bone in ribeye i thought had the best flavor and a good size slab of meat
the NY strips that are the coolers out front i thought were to dry even cooked rare (did not like but i do not care for strip steaks but will eat a porterhouse steak but will leave most of the strip )
it is a small loud busy place
i like a table in the back by the grill

i like next door at MGM's Craftsteak better
slower pace and not as loud
maybe a little more money and if the casino is picking up the tab except for the tip i don't care about the cost and go for the Kobe ribeye that has the texture of a filet with the flavor of a ribeye without the hunks of fat
it will truely melt in your mouth
would like to be there having one right now

just let the server know that you need to make the show if the time will be close

i would still go to Gallagher's

I'd recommend Smith & Wolensky's near the MGM.

Last time I was at Gallagher's the service left much to be desired. I've had no urge to return there.

You'll be better off across the street at CraftSteak, or at Delmonico's at the Venetian.

Ditto. Went there with another FT'er. We both agreed it was the best steak we've ever had. Great waiter. Flew back to MDW with two managing partners of Wolensky's; they said their Chicago branch is not their best.

I like Gallagher's as well because of the lively NY-like atmosphere.

I've read through lots of LV steakhouse reviews on this and other forums, but I would like to get your suggestions for a specific event. There will be 20 of us, 30-35 yrs old, and we want excellent steak in casual atmosphere (read: Prime & other "jacket preferred" establishments need not apply). Last year, the same group had our dinner at S&W, which was fine. It was probably at the top of our price range, and the food and service were OK, and atmostphere was very good (we were upstairs). We could easily go back there, but would like to change it up. Any suggestions? What about the informal room at Charlie Palmer? Is Craftsteak going to be too upscale?
Thanks.

Two suggestions, both a bit more moderately priced than S&W or Charlie Palmer Steak: BOA, which is in the Forum Shops, and is very trendy, nice menu, very service oriented, and ENVY, which is slightly off the strip at teh Renassaince on Paradis. ENVY also has very tasty food and a private room. BOA may have a private room, but definitely has semi-private seating areas and a cool bar. BOA also offers outdoor seating although that might not work for a group of your size.
I did eat at Charlie Palmer steak and was not blown away. I liked Craft Steak much better, but it is VERY expensive.

Delmonicos is another alternative for a casual setting.

Jerry...as someone who has put on this type of get together and attended even more, the best was at N9NE at the Palms. The food is unbelievable, the atmosphere is young and fun, and the service has always been good. Pretty people, good food, good service...that is the kind of place to bring 30-35 year olds in Vegas who like good steak!
