Confused by N'Ex
I was studying up on options to get from Narita to Tokyo and came across this page:
http://www.jreast.co.jp/e/nex/fares.html
It lists two tables for fares on the N'Ex, the lower being significantly cheaper than the upper. What is the difference?
Are there other rail options to get from Narita to Tokyo?

Keisei also run trains from the airport, but they go to Nippori and Ueno instead of Tokyo station.

But - to stress a point - the Keisei Skyliner, while cheaper, more comfortable and faster than N'Ex, is NOT covered by the JR Rail Pass.
On the other hand, if one end or the other of your trip will not be covered by your Pass because it falls outside of the 7- or 14- day period, the Skyliner makes an attractive option to the N'Ex. For example, my next trip will be 16 days, 14 of which will be covered by a Rail Pass. For the first trip into town from NRT and the next day running around Tokyo, I will be using the Skyliner+Metro Pass package and activating my Rail Pass on the third day.

Wirelessly posted (Sony Ericsson K800i: Opera/9.50 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.1.11355/408; U; en))
Yes, the N'ex is covered by the JR pass, as is the slower Airport Narita train, but at abmj-jr says the Keisei train is not.

We should probably give it a title like "Sticky: Japan (Tokyo and beyond) Master Thread". The "Master Thread" title might help a few people who are befuddled by the word "Sticky".
And I guess it would probably need to be placed at the top of all the threads in the Japan forum, to ensure that nobody misses it and needlessly posts a question that's already covered in the Sticky.
That's such a great idea.

I know about the N'EX + Suica package, but not about the Keisei Skyliner + Suica package. Would you explain a bit more about this or provide a link?
I thought Suica was good for station entry and exit and also for paying for the Skyliner seat reservation, but that there wasn't any discount such as with the N'EX + Suica package.
Thanks.

Thanks. I was looking for a Suica + [something cheaper than N'EX, like Keisei] combination package. Skyliner and Metro Pass or Airport Limousine and Metro Pass packages are good to know about.

Possible Alternative
I suggest we call the thread:
"Japan - Hotels under 8000; Meals under 1000; Discount Airfares/Trainfares & Free Japanese Cellphone/Service"
Adjust the html to make it bright red + flashing.
Keep the current information.
Rationale
Little or no content work necessary.
Virtually guaranteed to attract readership.
Can be easily updated to add Porn links if necessary.
Oh, and charge Internet Brands 2000/hit.
