I have an iPhone. I already have a copy of my physical SUICA in my wallet.

Do I just click wallet and add more SUICA? Then when the first one runs out, switch Express Mode on for one of the others?

So, I suppose it follows - all other things being equal - that when US interest rates eventually return to a more normal level, the yen will increase in value.

Best way is just to create a new SUICA. To do this (unless something's changed in the last year), you need to set your iphone's region to Japan and let it restart. Once it's restarted you can add a SUICA to it and then fund it with a credit card up to 20k yen (as of last week visa cards weren't working as mentioned above, not sure if that's changed). Then just change back from Japan region to US region.

Good to hear a region change isnt needed. Too bad Visa still isnt working though; hopefully it works again soon and codes as a travel/transit category.

Agree, I have some travel credits on my Altitude Reserve card that could have bought me some yen, but either way I loaded up a few cards, so I should be solid for at least my next trip.

I have a physical SUICA card, but none on phone. Will this work with an Android phone? Will Mastercard work since Visa fails?

Pretty sure Android has an analogous option to Apple Wallet.

Mastercard issues have been resolved. My Apple Card (mc based) is what I use currently to top up so I at least get 2% back.

Amex and MC will be fine. So will visa-connected debit cards (processes as debit).

Do the new US-based android devices work with japan IC terminals? In the past they lacked the software needed to communicate, only Japan-based android devices worked. On Google Pay (I have a pixel, samsung pay requires a samsung device), and there's no option to add an IC card, only transit card options are us-based.

I am no Android expert but since there are so many android based devices available in the US it's probably difficult to give a blanket answer. You probably have to ask about specific models. As far as I know only Apple devices are a sure bet to have FeliCa support globally since I think the iphone7.

For example, per Google only the Japanese Pixel 6a has FeliCa. Pixel phone hardware tech specs - Pixel Phone Help (google.com)

From my understanding, it was an Android thing, the drivers weren't licensed for use in any US-based android OS builds, even if the hardware's present. What pesos just posted looks interesting though, so I'm going to have to check that out.
