Happens with Pasmo once in a great while as well. I've found that it usually clears up within a few hours. I always keep my phone and watch cards both at 20,000 yen just in case there are issues for a long time.

I just tested a bunch of cards and it seems Visas don't work at this time. Mastercards and Amex worked.

Can anyone test this theory with a small load?

Thanks for testing. This has been driving me crazy the last few days.

I had to pay cash at Shimbashi last week since my card wouldn't load and they didn't take credit cards at the exit.

Murphy's Law hit me once too - that's why I always keep two loaded cards at all times.

running data points here. Visa was up a bit on Tuesday but back down now across the board - Amex ok, Mastercard maybe working for Suica but not pasmo (but situation is fluid)
