Excellent haul, super lucky on that H21 just slightly above MSRP.

Did you nab the Tsuru 17 online?

Nice. I think I saw the tweet about H21 but wasn't able to do it. Congrats, that bottle will taste just a little bit better

Think it was an online/app thing. It was over a day ago so Twitter being Twitter it's impossible to find in the timeline now.

Got a name on that bar? Yoichi 20 is a really rare sight in the wild these days.

I was in a Liquor Express earlier and the staff told me of a rumor age stated Taketsuru are about to be discontinued/hiatus. I wouldn't have given it much credence but now with this tweet...

Speaking of discontinuations, is there any corroboration of Ichiros DD being discontinued? I guess at some point they had to stop using Hanyu stock for this, cut down as it is.

Most Ichiro's releases are limited so its safe to say it will likely disappear one day either way. I would doubt there is any significant amount of Hanyu in the blend to begin with given how common and cheap it is.

Heard the same from my favorite bartender in Hokkaido. It'll be sad to see another favorite gone.

That explains why all the sudden the prices online for T17 and T21 have gone up so much in the past weeks!! Good thing I have bottles stashed to last me for a bit... But still sad...

What good new/limited Japanese drams should I be out on the lookout for? Hunted a bunch of whiskys last time I was in Japan (2 years ago) and stocked up on what I could find from an age statement perspective on Suntory/Nikka/Akashi items. What new (producers or limited runs) that I should keep my eye out for? Seems like there are a ton of new producers, a lot with age statements but I know the labeling of "Japanese Whisky" can be misleading with their lax laws. Can't wait for this year's hunt, probably went to 50 or more liquor stores over 2 weeks last time haha! Girlfriend going to kill me again.

Spending time up in Sapporo/Osaka/Kyoto/Kobe/Tokyo, know most of the shops I will visit except for in Sapporo, anybody have any suggestions up there (besides the Yoichi Distillery?)

Thanks!

David
