Migration date: Nov 16 2017

Handling Procedure Changes: https://www.jal.co.jp/en/info/pss/dom/
  • Domestic ticket/awards will be valid for 1 year from the day after issuance date
  • Single 6 alphanumeric PNR will be used for entire itinerary instead of 4 digit PNR for each sector on domestic flights
  • No longer allows separation payments of Y and Class J/Domestic F upgrade fees
  • Credit card number will no longer be accepted as authentication method
  • Fares eligible for waitlisting will be reduced but deadline will be extended from T-48 to T-24
  • Can no longer change to an earlier flight when flying on domestic awards
  • ePoints will be refundable on awards and can specify the amount allocated on multiple passengers instead of splitting them equally
  • Some other ePoints enhancements on award tax/fee payments, JALPAK package payment will be refundable, etc

A lot more changes coming e.g. surface sector won't be included in total mileage calculation for award redemption: http://www.jal.co.jp/en/info/pss_world/jmb/inter.html

Upcoming system outages and OLCI suspensions/changes: http://www.jal.co.jp/en/info/pss_world/maintenance/?inbound=ar

On a sidetrack, do you know how many shares one needs to own to use the shareholders discount?

None, because you can buy the coupons at any good 金券ショップ here in Japan. The going rate right now is around 3,500 JPY per coupon. NH tends to run closer to 3,200 JPY.

More changes will come. This includes surface sector won't be counted towards total sector miles when making partner redemption.

Ticketing fee will go way up after the Amadeus switch!

http://www.jal.co.jp/en/inter/paymen.../overseas.html

E.g. Current ticketing fee is USD20 in the US and it will go up to USD50 after the switch.

And the Yokoso ticketing fee is TBD. Currently it's USD10.

I don’t really trust TAs especially to do anything complicated.

It's still free in India on new tickets Or you can call China which is still much cheaper (150RMB, so ~USD22).

Looks like advanced front seat selection is coming to international flights from Nov 16 2017! This applies to all JMB FLY ON members, yes even JMB Crystal! Will be interesting to see how this is going to be different from the current selection options.

I'd be very sad if there is a reduction in the airport controlled seats.... Or no grading between the various status levels.

When they implemented this on domestic flights I didn't notice much differences in seats I am allowed to select. But if they open up more seats for us to pre-select, I hope it's for JMB FLY ON members only and not open to all partners' elites.
