Migration date: Nov 16 2017

Handling Procedure Changes: https://www.jal.co.jp/en/info/pss/dom/
  • Domestic ticket/awards will be valid for 1 year from the day after issuance date
  • Single 6 alphanumeric PNR will be used for entire itinerary instead of 4 digit PNR for each sector on domestic flights
  • No longer allows separation payments of Y and Class J/Domestic F upgrade fees
  • Credit card number will no longer be accepted as authentication method
  • Fares eligible for waitlisting will be reduced but deadline will be extended from T-48 to T-24
  • Can no longer change to an earlier flight when flying on domestic awards
  • ePoints will be refundable on awards and can specify the amount allocated on multiple passengers instead of splitting them equally
  • Some other ePoints enhancements on award tax/fee payments, JALPAK package payment will be refundable, etc

There will be service suspension during the migration. OLCI will be suspended for an extended period of time.

OLCI resumption dates depend on airport/flight. Also OLCI will open at T-24 after the migration. You can no longer use your JMB number as an identification So you need to remember your PNR or e-ticket

For passengers transferring to an international flight from another international flight, through check-in may not be available depending on the itinerary. Please ask for details at the first international flight departure airport.
I will need to give JAL a call regarding this. Not sure how they will handle this if you have a tight connection and check through isn't available

If I knew, I would have pushed back my flight by a few days. Don't want to fly during the migration at all. But at least I am not flying out on Day 0. It was a nightmare when CX migrated over to Amadeus few years back.

Ack! I reread the dates and online check-in is suspended 11/11. Just wonderful, looks like we'll have to exit at LAX, go to the counter, then go back in. And make sure I have printed copies of the itineraries.

I didn't see anything about domestic, other than 11/15-16. Does that mean it's mostly unaffected or that will be communicated later?

Please please please go well. Domestic flight on 19th and ITM-HND-SFO on the 23rd.

Looks like Yokoso ticketing fee in the US will jump from USD10 to USD50

Did the web check in Thursday and was able to print the boarding pass yesterday, so that part appears to still working. For some reason I couldn't print out my own BP, just my wife's.

How does this impact making award bookings on partners? The calendar for the EK flight I want to book opens tomorrow!

Looks like the NA ticketing office is pretty busy...they may not be able to issue my Yokoso before the cut off even though I provided all the docs yesterday LOL Oh well I don't care as long as I don't have to pay for the USD50 ticketing fee.

Kinds of confused about this rule. Does it means if I purchased Y class and I am not be able to pay 1,000/8,000Yen at airport for upgrade to J/F?
