JAL announced restructuring details, including list of route suspensions

JAL will hold a press conference today to give an outline of its restructuring plan, including the planned route cuts. So far I haven't heard anything yet but bloomberg has an interesting article. Apparently they have received the press release before JAL released that to the public (I found the pdf version of the PR finally, see update section below)

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=apIyE7UWw2Ps

Below are the outline
- 15 international and 30 domestic route cuts this fiscal year
- Retire 744 and A300 this fiscal year
- 1/3 job cut this fiscal year

Thanks to all the media leaks, these seems old news to me but then Bloomberg says this is from the STATEMENT released on JAL website today which I still couldn't find it yet.

More details to follow once I have more information.

Also Nikkei reports JAL will outsource part of its plane maintenance WITHOUT citing a source
http://www.reuters.com/article/idCNS...0100427?rpc=44

Update: I found the press release in Japanese. Here are the translated list of changes (including planned HND flights)

International network (include new HND flights): http://jal-pak.blogspot.com/2010/04/...-jal-list.html
Domestic network: http://jal-pak.blogspot.com/2010/04/...e-list-of.html

Update 2: It's official. JAL added link to its press release site (too people trying to connect and overloaded the server...you might not be able to load the page)
Japanese: http://press.jal.co.jp/ja/release/201004/001530.html
English: http://press.jal.co.jp/en/release/201004/001531.html

Interesting that the bloomberg link cites jal website press release with "001529" number, while there's only up to 001528 news article. Maybe jal took it back once temporally released the statement? Thanks for keep us updated.

It's possible that JAL released that statement to Bloomberg in advance and they are not supposed to published it until after the press conference By the way where did you see 001529?

I'll watch news tonight and see what they say. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this.

I wonder how many routes will survive from NGO and KIX....

Oh, bloomberg pulled out the link. It had the link on the word "statement" of your link. And now they saw my post and removed the link

I used to work with these machines... and you better believe it:

Bloomberg is subject to VERY STRICT rules (SEC, etc.) in regards of official releases of confidential information and documents that are being made available to them in advance, so they can prepare the information for a controled and orderly release for publication on their systems by the set times/dates and deadlines. 17.00.00 is 17.00.00 and not 16.59.35 or 17.00.57.

They actually have strict Chinese Walls between their news people, their software people, and their information departments on the one hand, and the specialised Financial Data-staff that are in charge for this kind of work on the other hand.

Embargoes are anounced beforehand, so anyone interested is in the know about when the info will become publicly available on the system.

It's been a very long time that i've heard of Bloomberg prematurely breaking the embargo on this kind of information, and I would be surprised if that were the case here.

Either there was no embargo, or its deadline was earlier. Or maybe Bloomberg didn't feel subject to it, since JAL no longer is a publicly listed company, being bankrupt and all...

Or maybe, just maybe... there was just another pre-meditated leak (in which case it's the news dept. and not the data staff that were in charge of releasing the info).

.

I heard KIX-BKK survives the cut. At least that's what Nikkei said yesterday. You must be happy

I don't think it's enough, but it's a good start and why cancel 6 months later when the routes are bleeding RED

Some of them are not bleeding if the Diamond Online's data is correct, e.g. KIX-HKG. It's sad to see that go. I took that as my first flight when I was kid

And HND-LAX is NOT on the launch list And my prediction is right, JL731/732 will be cut after HND expansion...not sure if they will keep F on that flight)

System's are not updated yet.

I need to get to HKG in Oct. But I can still make reservations for the flight

Although the cheap fares are not loaded. I wonder how long it will take the to load teh changes.

Should I book first and have them reroute me on CX for free

Probably will use an award for this trip

Or they will reroute you via HND or NRT

And they haven't officially announced the plan yet...just someone mistakenly uploaded the pdf

rerouting me through HND or NRT takes too much time and the arrival/departure times are inconvient!

I rather have the route me on the direct CX flights. Since they have promotions I can get the same ticket for way less in miles

It could be either refund the miles or take the alternative route I am interested to find out what will happen. Maybe you should just book all cancelled flights now with your JALCard and then have JAL refund you. Will you get credit card miles this way?
