NYC - Crowne Plaza Times Square

Crowne Plaza Times Square New York City

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard king room, was given a corner king

How are the rooms?
Not sure I would consider the corner king an upgrade. It is about the same size as a standard room with a bigger window and wider view. I may have liked it better if the view was city, not Hudson river. Also, with the bigger window, that side of the room was a bit colder.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Room was comfortable and nice size on an upper floor. A refrigerator would be a nice addition. Bathroom with a walk in shower is always preferred and appreciated. Thermostat didn't regulate the room temperature as I would have liked, and the room was quite warm.
The $10 breakfast buffet coupons were appreciated, but when I got the bill I noticed tip is requested in addition to the 15% service charge already included in the charge. I was not charged the $30 daily resort fee but didn't ask about it, so not sure if it was overlooked or waived due to status. Quick and easy check in using the separate elite line. Location is fantastic for the reasons I visit NYC.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Will definitely return. This being February, the rate I paid was downright cheap for NYC. And if they continue to waive the service charge, even better!

What Priority Club status?

platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Book a standard room in the winter sale, was upgraded to a executive room with a balcony

How are the rooms?
Not massive, but ok size wise

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge

What was good and what was bad?
Hotel is well located, nice products in the bathroom, everything worked, free mini bar with soft drinks, water, crisps, chocolate bar and two bottles of beer

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I paid £59, rooms are usually upward of £80-90, yes i would return

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes i I happy with this hotel, the only disappointing thing for me is when it opened the welcome at reception felt quite personalise, with restaurant recommendations etc, now it is just run of the mill

Crowne Plaza Denver

Crowne Plaza Denver (Denver, Colorado, USA)

What is your Priority Club status? Platinum Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes, this is my second time at the property. There's not much around immediately outside the hotel, but it's close to the 16th Street Mall. There's a shuttle that runs to the convention centre, and a Denver B-Cycle dock a block away.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked King Worklife Nonsmoking; Received King Worklife Premium View NS.

How are the rooms? Ok. Premium view mainly means a higher floor. The WorkLife rooms have a slightly angled bed. Didn't feel that different from a non-WorkLife room without an angled bed to me. Elevator ding sounds like a doorbell, and is annoying.

How is the exec. lounge? N/A

What was good and what was bad? I booked Your Rate including breakfast. It's a good deal even for one person. You can choose between a credit off the menu, or the breakfast buffet. If you go for the buffet, you can still get eggs made-to-order.

My stay preferences specify a room away from the elevator. But, I got a room right in the middle, across from the 4 elevators. On my previous stay, I was given a room immediately beside an elevator. Not sure why I keep getting rooms as close as possible to the elevator.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Paid $184 (including tax) for one night. The Kimpton Hotel Monaco is nicer and in a more convenient location, for me, and the Crowne Plaza sometimes isn't much cheaper. However, the breakfast included rate at the Crowne Plaza is a better overall value. I'll be back, depending on the rate difference between the CP and the Kimpton.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked King Executive Nonsmoking; Received same on the top floor.

How are the rooms? Room was small, but perfectly fine for one night while transiting.

How is the exec. lounge? N/A

What was good and what was bad? Hotel is pretty basic. Pretty easy to get to from the airport via a University of Colorado A Line train, followed by a brief bus ride. My stay preferences are high floor and away from elevator, and I literally got a room on the top floor and as far away from the elevator as possible.

The hotel is big, but completely hollow in the middle. I'm personally not a fan of this style of hotel building. Breakfast at the in-house restaurant was overcooked and not great.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Paid $89.22 (including taxes) for one night with breakfast included. Good value for just an overnight stay between the airport and downtown Denver. Easy Uber or RTD bus ride between the hotel and downtown.

Excellent property overall
Outgoing and very friendly staff throughout the hotel (very rare in Georgia in our experience)
Good location - the downtown/ Old Town area is easily accessible by taxi or public transport; but we did like the area at the hotel better
Welcome amenities: Fruits and wine
Nice, 25 meter outdoor pool (which we, of course did not use at this time of the year)

Spire

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard for 3, given Executive

How are the rooms?
It is a modern HI, with all new furnishings. The Exec is decent sized.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
It is inside a nice upscale mall that also hosts an awesome indoor Aqua Park. And guests of the HI get free access! Full access include the sauna! I had no idea that it was included and expected to pay hundreds for my family to visit Bernaqua, but instead just paid a relatively modest price for the HI, plus parking underneath the hotel.
Check out https://www.bernaqua.ch/
Also the hotel gives out free public transport tickets. There is a tram stop and train station right outside the hotel. So we went into town for Carnaval which was a lot of fun.

Bad
Nothing

Value for Sfr or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Absolutely. I am sure we will be back.

Holiday Inn & Suites Vancouver Downtown

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Originally the queen studio suite which I booked a couple months in advance, and over the next few weeks of booking the property decided to keep changing the room type, ultimately resulting in multiple auto update emails and ending up with 2 queen regular room, which I was slightly miffed about. However, was upgraded to king parlour suite despite hotel being fully booked, so it worked out.

How are the rooms?
Room was spacious and clean. I liked the individual sofa chairs. The bathroom was quite small and cramped though, fine for one person but probably annoying with 2-4. Standard HI decor.

What was good and what was bad?
Good location, in walking distance to most of the city. Good water pressure and heat, something I particularly appreciate when it's freezing outside. As far as I could tell they were quite accommodating to Elite members. They granted me the 2 PM late check out as well.

Elevators were very small, I had a ski bag which barely fit with me and one other person. While the front desk was friendly, I think the setup lends itself to a long wait. Thin walls, I'm a heavy sleeper so it doesn't matter to me much but I could hear my neighbors sneezes and farts.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, I booked around $130. It is 35k points however if trying to book an award, so I think that redemption is bad value, especially if you end up with a regular non suite room.

Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
No.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest, received Single Bed Room, no upgrade. Management explained me that they don’t have enough rooms since now they are undergoing the renovation in 5 floors. But they had inventories of Club Room. They ignored my complaint. This is a big disgrace. I had been stay in this hotel average 50 nights annually for a long years. Hotel always provided best support to me. But since new general manager has arrived last summer, this hotel’s service policy has been completely changed. Very unfriendly hotel now.

How are the rooms?
18sqm. Renovated in 2017. But indeed cramped.

Video of One Single Bed Room

How is the exec. lounge?
Not granted.
Since last September, they removed Spire Club Access and Swimming Pool Access benefit by GM’s order.

How was the mini-bar?
So-so.

What was your welcome gift?
Fruits plate only.

Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes.

What was good and what was bad?
Good=Nothing

Bad=Everything

Value for $ or Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
No. I’m really disappointed to this hotel. I’m considering to change my weekday accommodations in Osaka to Moxy Osaka Honmachi.

My flight to LAX was cancelled at the last minute. I called the property about 5 pm their time and the Front Desk agent was kind enough to waive the cancellation fee. I'll try and stay there the next time I need a hotel near LAX.
