What is your Priority Club status?
Spire

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard, given standard

How are the rooms?
It is a modern newly built HIX. Rather nice.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
Given a free drink card as Spire for a cocktail and got a €9 glass of single malt.
Good microwaveable food selection
Really low weekday prices

Bad
Bit of an outdoor walk from the CDGVAL, but fine for CDG.

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Bx standard, Rx standard

How are the rooms?
Furniture is dated and bathroom was poorly lit. TV was grainy. But somehow it lent itself to a bit of Italian charm. Bed was large and comfortable though, and the small fridge was nice.

How is the exec. lounge?
NA

What was good and what was bad?
Good: Friendly staff, quick to try to assist.

Bad: AC didn't work. Might have been disabled for "winter" as some hotels do. We didn't complain and just opened the window for some cooler air. Elevators were very small.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Paid stay. I would say just slightly above even money for value, for a mainland hotel.

Cheap hotel for LA County.
Good bar
Newly renovated rooms (will take some time for all rooms to be renovated)

Bad

Holiday Inn Express Buckhead - Atlanta GA

Holiday Inn Express Buckhead, Atlanta

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Mixed feelings about this one.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard king room, given the same.

How are the rooms?
Standard HIX room. One difference from most is that the bathroom is not a separate room. Walk in shower and toilet have only pocket door, and the sink area is part of the main room.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Great location in Buckhead, with shops and restaurants nearby. Check in was smooth, front desk staff friendly. After about 30 minutes in the room, I had to kill several ants. Called down and asked to be moved. The new room was also a king, but definitely a downgrade. As an apology I was given a welcome bag with water and a couple of snacks. No offer of points or anything similar.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
The price for this hotel can fluctuate a lot. If not too expensive I usually choose this property in Atlanta for the location. I will return if I don't have to share a room with ants!

Holiday Inn Express Ramsey-Mahwah

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard king room, given the same on the third (top) floor away from the elevator.

How are the rooms?
Room was a little small but recently-renovated. Furnishings and bedding were fresh, ample amount of power plugs and USB ports, with half-height mini fridge and microwave oven. Digital climate control on room a/c helped keep things comfortable. Ample water pressure.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
As stated above, the renovated decor made for a very comfortable stay. Our room faced busy Route 17 outside and there was a bit of road noise, which was a negative. Breakfast in the morning was pretty crowded but we were able to find an open table after a brief wait.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I did a cash and points (10K points and $60) to check off one of my Accelerate goals. Overall, the nightly rates are reasonable overall location is on a nicer stretch of Route 17 than the HIX Paramus. The free breakfast gives a bit of a nod over the Crowne Plaza in Saddle Brook which charges about the same rates on the weekends.

Holiday Inn & Suites Phoenix Airport

Holiday Inn & Suites Phoenix Airport

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard King Bed Executive Nonsmoking, upgraded to a suite on the top (5th) floor.

How are the rooms?
Suite is long and a little narrow; similar to an Embassy Suites room. There's a small wet bar in the living room with a mini fridge and microwave, which is nice to have for drinks and leftovers. The bathroom has a single sink and tub and shower. Water pressure is good. Bed was comfortable with good soundproofing and not to much airport noise or from the freeway outside. The outlets on the lamps in the bedroom go into sleep mode after 30 minutes so if you want to charge anything, you need to plug into a wall outlet.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Nice property, new build and well-maintained. Easy to take free shuttle to/from PHX; you need to call from the terminal. It's about a 10 minute ride. The Holiday Inn shuttles look alike so be careful not to get on a shuttle heading to the North property/ When taking the shuttle to the airport, you need to make advance registrations at the Front Desk. Friendly staff. Decent breakfast buffet. My wife said the yoga mat in the exercise room was really dirty and worn; we wondered if it was the original one from when the hotel opened.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Based on the suite upgrade and breakfast for two, a good value.

Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard King Bed Leisure Nonsmoking, upgraded to a suite on the 3rd (middle) floor.

How are the rooms?
Suite large and spacious; a big box and on the corner of the property. Along with a small wet bar in the living room with a mini fridge and microwave is an large seating area with sofas and lounge chairs. There's also a work desk. The bathroom has dual sinks and a large walk-in shower (no tub). Very comfortable bed.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Newer property in an industrial park surrounded by other properties, including a Candlewood Suites about a block away that shares the airport shuttle. There's some fast food a short walk/drive away if needed. Very friendly staff and ample free parking. I wasn't asked about my amenity choice when I checked in; when I asked, I was directed to "take whatever I wanted" from the snack bar (I took two cans of Coke Zero and a bag of Chile Limon chips). I ended getting the 500 points anyhow.

I arrived just after midnight and called for the shuttle; I was informed I had just missed one. I waited about 15-20 min to get picked up. In the morning, I asked for a spot on the 6:30 am shuttle and it didn't come until around 10 minutes later.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Based on the suite upgrade and sub $100/nite rate, yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked King lake view, got King lake view. It was spring break season in Florida, and there were no suites available when I booked, so fair enough

How are the rooms? Still in good shape a few years after opening. Modern design with something of a movies theme. (Jacksonville apparently had something of a movie industry before it consolidated in California back in the day)

How is the exec. lounge? N/A

What was good and what was bad? Good-Well-kept property between downtown JAX and beaches and near some of the nicer shopping in the area. The lake was more lake-like and less of an obvious retention pond than you often get with Florida inland water views. Stay preferences were respected- room was at the furthest point away from any noisy elevators and ice machines. The lake also creates something of a buffer between the hotel and other parts of a large mixed use residential and commercial development. Can walk to a number of restaurants in the small adjacent town center area and there looked to be more sidewalks and paths around the lake.

Bad- have to share parking lot with town center. While a bunch of spaces are blocked off for the hotel, you can still find yourself parking a bit further out than expected.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Paid $131 a night plus tax, which was cheaper than some nearby HIXes for the same dates, and felt like it was a good price for that time of year. Will probably stay there next time we're in town.

What is your Priority Club status? Platinum Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Booked 1 King Bed Executive Nonsmoking; received same.

How are the rooms? Perfectly fine for a one night stay.

How is the exec. lounge? N/A

What was good and what was bad? Standard Holiday Inn. Nothing particularly good or bad. Shuttle from airport was efficient.

I wish the shuttle could make a stop at the 61st & Pena station instead of having to go back to the airport to catch an A line train. But, not a big deal.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Booked this to fulfil one of the challenges on Accelerate. Decent value for an airport hotel.

Holiday Inn Express New York-Brooklyn

Holiday Inn Express New York-Brooklyn

What is your Priority Club status?
Spire Inner Circle

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
No

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard King Bed Nonsmoking and that what I was assigned (although on the top floor and view of Brooklyn City Hall and Lower Manhattan). The only upgrade would have been to a room with a Jacuzzi tub.

How are the rooms?
Very small and cramped. No mini fridge or microwave. Bed was missing topsheet under the duvet, which was gross. I could hear noise from people in the hallway through the door. The furnishings looked to be relatively new and fresh, though. The towels were surprisingly plush and soft.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good - Location is about half a block from the R Train stop on the subway which gives direct access to Manhattan and easy transfers to tourist spots like Coney Island and the Brooklyn Bridge. The neighborhood is on an opaque border of encroaching Park Slope (family/residential) and Gowanus (industrial). The property is surrounded by auto repair shops. There's lots of decent food options within walking distance. Standard HIX breakfast.

Bad - Small and cramped rooms, poor housekeeping, only one small and slow elevator.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I wouldn't pay more than $125 a night and even at that price, I'd have to think about it.

Holiday Inn Express Zürich Airport

What is your Priority Club status?
Club (aka none)

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked double bed room, received one facing the airport on high floor labelled with a Rewards Club logo at the elevator.

How are the rooms?
Find it quite spacious and furniture well kept, but there's some design flaws (refer to good/bad section). There are notice board in the hotel explaining future renovations, hope they will be addressed and fixed.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Good:
- Not too far away from train station and the city, supermarket and shops nearby
- Friendly staff
- Breakfast spread is nice, with a selection of cold cuts, cheese, fresh salad and museli etc.
- Nice looking room and bright corridor
- Shower with separate temperature/pressure control which is the convenient type
- Air conditioning works well either way

Bad (or to improve):
- No electric outlet nor USB charging opportunity bedside for the tech-savvy generation
- No in-room fridge (thus spoilt some milk)
- Tissue box only inside washroom
- Hand soap is in upside-down squeezy bottle so it's not very convenient to get some wet-handed.
- My key card didn't work the second night though the staff kindly resolved.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Everything in Switzerland is expensive, so maybe quite good value already? Will return.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Single Bed Building View, received one at similar level as other building's rooftop (could be a high floor Main City View or marginal)

How are the rooms?
Not very big but just the adequate space for myself; looks a bit dated but well maintained and clean. Well equipped.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Received a bottle of water at check-in as member recognition, which is better if just placed in the room (no extra bottle in room).

Good:
- Walking distance to major train (Shinkansen) station
- Well stocked amenity items
- Shower+tub with easy to use water controls

Bad: n/a

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?

Holiday Inn Express Toronto East - Scarborough

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Fine, nothing special.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
King Bed - No upgrade (despite website showing lot of available next category rooms).

How are the rooms?
Standard HIX size, 8M deep x 3.M wide. OK condition.Brick façade bedside wall a bit odd.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
Quiet hotel, comfortable bed. Right off the 401, a 5-minute drive to the GO Train, then a nice 25-minute ride to downtown Toronto. Best IHG location for the wonderful Toronto Zoo. No automatic doors. Staff at counter stare as I struggle to get through two sets of doors in a wind storm. No recognition for Platinum members (aside from the standard "thank you for loyalty"). Many channels not in HD. Nothing but alt-left options (CNN, CBC, CTV) for news.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Rates of $119+ a bit steep for a suburban HIX, but far better than downtown Toronto. 20K points an OK value.
