Hey all,
I tried using e-gates in March 2025 while exiting the country at BOM. I could not do it because the officers said the exact name on the boarding pass did not match the name on the passport.
However, the officer told me that they are working on a fix.

- Is there anyone here who recently used the e-gates and the name mismatch thing was not an issue at the e-gates?
- Do people who have faced this issue explicitly tell the airlines to put the full name as per passport on the boarding pass during check-in to avoid this hassle altogether?

My passport has middle name, ticker.never has it. So that's not an issue. Any other discrepancy and I can see why it would create an issue

Completed fingerprinting yesterday at BOM.
I have never seen immigration staff so excited with something!
The process was efficient to complete enrolment and the officer was thrilled i got this done.
(immigration was done just before the enrolment).

For BOM arrivals - just ask the immigration officer which counter to go for completing this process.

Hope this will work very well.

Question for anyone who has applied recently.

How long is it taking these days for the initial approval email?

My wife & kid's passports were expiring this year so I didn't enroll them initially since they would have had to go through the enrollment process again once the passports were renewed. I got all passports renewed earlier this week & they were delivered yesterday. So this morning I enrolled all 3 of them.

We are traveling in another 10 days so hoping to get the approval email before that.

I submitted the application on April 30th, received approval for biometrics on May 16th.
Submitting the application was an ordeal. It's so buggy, it took about a week of attempts to fill out and submit the form.

Submitting the application was a breeze for me. Took me less than 15 minutes to submit all 3.

Hoping to get the approval email before the 5th of June.

Seems like approval times are around 2 weeks. Looks like they will only be able to register on the way back.

Got approval for both parents today 05/29 at around the same time - so its still slightly under 2 weeks turnaround

I am trying to submit an application for my son who holds an OCI, but the two sections have me stumped. He has no document for the reference address in India, what should I provide for this one? And, as he is still in grade school, what should I submit for the education qualification? We have a trip to India coming up soon, and was looking to get him fingerprinted on arrival.

I don't think you need to upload any proof of Indian address.
  1. In case the present address is of a country outside India, you may upload a government issued identity proof bearing your current address in the foreign country.
I provided my US DL. For a minor, maybe they will accept Parent's ID.

Update on this. I submitted their applications on the 24th of May & last evening I got approval emails for my wife & younger son while they asked me to re-upload an address proof for my older son.

No clue what they are looking for as I uploaded a copy of my passport as the address proof for both my kids. They approved one & asked me to re-upload for the other.

I did that right away last evening but we travel tonight so its very unlikely I'll get approval for the last application in time before our flight. We will get the bio-metrics completed for my wife & younger one tonight & for my older son on our way back in a few weeks.

I have submitted the application with a copy of my passport, now the waiting game begins.

Used the e-gates at BLR on Saturday, arriving from FRA. Surprisingly, I was the only one to use it. It worked as advertised. My family had to go through the regular process (pending applications) and they go thru quickly as well, not much lines at all.
