India to trial trusted traveller program for expedited immigration clearance
"The programme, which allows quick immigration clearance for pre-verified travellers, will be started on pilot basis at Delhi and Mumbai airports this year and will eventually be implemented at 15 airports by 2027 and all airports by 2032."

Good to know. Realistically, I think DEL & BOM are the only 2 airports prepared to implement something like this. The others have a long way to go.

Entry immigration for Indian citizens is already pretty simplified unless they have biometric passports I don't see how this will work. Perhaps they want to use the aadhar/digiyatra system? So arriving Indian pax can use the egates based on the information in the aadhar system?
|
At some point these trusted traveler programs become more of a joke and are shown to be just a vehicle for governments to get more PII data on more travelers; and after giving a bunch of passengers more convenience for a while for being the guinea pig test set, then the governments ramp up their ability to take those lessons learned to sort of bundle travelers back together in some ways and thereby get on the path of eroding the difference between being a “trusted traveler” and not. But India may have to work toward this kind of program because of reciprocity demands.

This is so true. I went through DFW immigration's Global Entry last week and noticed that my friend who went through a regular visitor's visa queue was subjected to a similar process. Just his face was scanned and he was sent on his way. So what have I gained by sharing all my PII?
Also, with Global Entry you also get TSA Pre Check, which I value greatly when traveling domestically in the US. |
IAD on Tuesday was gaga: US citizens on my flight needed 60 min, my boss needed 90min, for me it would have been 90 seconds using GE. But I stood in line with my boss in solidarity 🫣

Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Traveller Program
Its seems they are finally starting an egate immigration system. Pilot is (surprise surprise) DEL.
https://ftittp.mha.gov.in/fti/ Fast Track Immigration - Trusted Travellers' Programme (FTI-TTP) has been initiated to speed up the Immigration clearance process for eligible persons from the following categories:
The FTI-TTP will be implemented through an online portal and Bureau of Immigration will be the nodal agency for fast track immigration of various categories of travellers under this programme. To enroll in the scheme, the applicant has to register online on the portal with her/his details and required documents. After necessary verification, a White List of ‘Trusted Travellers’ will be generated and fed for implementation through e-Gates. Biometrics of the ‘Trusted Traveller’ passing through e-Gates will be captured at the FRRO office or at the time of passage of the registered traveller through the airport. The TTP registration will be valid till the validity of the passport or 05 years whichever is earlier and will be renewed thereafter. Under the process, as soon as the 'registered passenger' reaches the e-gates, he/she will scan his/her boarding pass issued by the airlines at the e-gates to get the details of his/her flight. The passport will also be scanned and biometric of the passenger will be authenticated at the e-gates. Once the genuine identity of the passenger is established and biometric authentication is done, the e-gate will open automatically and immigration clearance will be deemed to have been granted. FTI-TTP will be launched at 21 major airports in the country. In the first phase, along with Delhi Airport, it will be launched at 7 major airports - Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Ahmedabad. So basically you have to do everything what the BoI officer does, but get no stamp on your BP and passport? |
Great start, can not enter my German mobile number for OTP as it doesn't allow for phone numbers longer than 10 digits.
|
I just submitted my application. Let's see if the system works :)

FTI-TTP service is not applicable for age greater than 70.
I went through the application process to discover that FTI-TTP service is not applicable for age greater than 70.
