So, just to be clear, do they insist on an Indian address for all applicants, whether holding an Indian passport or not, and whether living in India or not?
One post further up in this thread seemed to imply that an Indian address is needed only for Indian passport holders living outside India (NRIs). If an Indian address is needed for everyone, well, that basically cuts out a whole lot of folks who could potentially use this scheme. One can hope they relax this requirement in the future. |
If we submit the online application now, how many days will it be kept active?
For reference, US Global Entry application is kept active until 365 days from the date of receiving ''conditional approval", thus giving the applicant enough time to visit a participating airport/USCBP office to get the biometrics done. |

I got my Biometrics enrolled at the FRRO at AMD last week. I had selected the FRRO option while registering, since it is right on my way to work. There was no option to select an appointment, they self allocated me a date on which I was travelling. I immediately replied that I would not be able to make it and asked them to reschedule. The BOI replied and asked me to come to the FRRO whenever it suits me during office hours.
The process at FRRO was very simple, I was in and out in 5 minutes. This being a smaller outpost though they do not have a dedicated area for FTI as yet, the process is done right at the reception. I was the first person to get it done in the city. Approval came in after 3 days of Biometrics submission. |
Is the biometric facility up and running at BLR? I have travel scheduled later this year, and my approval says to get it done at BLR airport. Not sure if there's a way to switch it to FRRO.

Reading this :
as soon as the 'registered passenger' reaches the e-gates, he/she will scan his/her boarding pass issued by the airlines at the e-gates to get the details of his/her flight. The passport will also be scanned and biometric of the passenger will be authenticated at the e-gates. Once the genuine identity of the passenger is established and biometric authentication is done, the e-gate will open automatically and immigration clearance will be deemed to have been granted. Is this actually operational? Is it able to handle the volume of pax flowing through T-2? |

Yes. They collected mine on a recent arrival at BLR. My FTI-TTP application was approved 24 hrs later.

Quick update from the friend who enroled at BOM on the 15th.

The website mentions you will not get a physical stamp on your passport if you use the E-gates. (which definitely makes sense). However, we have had situations (banking, etc) where the institution asks us to provide the latest immigration entry/exit stamps. (since we are OCI). So, in our case is it a good idea to NOT sign up for this program??? The website does mention we can get entry/exit data from the BOI.....however, I am not so confident with the BOI.. Any thoughts? |

I sent an email to them asking about address proof as I didn’t have one for India. They asked me to submit a proof for non-Indian address. I uploaded all the docs online and got conditional approval with a reference number within 72 hours. I flew into BLR on Sunday, went to the BoI counter and asked them for biometrics. They took it next to one of the foreigner arrival counters. The BoI official pointed out the under construction e-gates, stating they will be ready in the next few months. I got my approval today, with validity of 5 years. Hoping to use it on the next travel back to India.
