Since your home base is DEL you should see progress quichly. ;)

Is this being handled by the BOI?

Yah good luck with that.... I've (not) been waiting nearly 2 weeks.

I did hear though that Delhi airport has had the gates installed since a couple of years and they were basically just waiting for the joke ministry to get the ball rolling on enrolment.

I've seen no evidence of any such infrastructure at BOM so it's entirely possible I'll have this E Entry thing in theory only for a long time.

On the lines of when they announced biometric passports were to be rolled out any day now, and made all this noise about the response time of the home-grown technology being a few milliseconds quicker than what the French or Americans had. Even issued Pratibha Patil the first (and I suspect only) biometric passport. Must be at least 15 years ago.

In the meanwhile, Afghanistan and Madagascar and Honduras and Fiji and Syria and Somalia and even bloody Bangladesh have all forged ahead. Whilst we're still where we were 15 years ago ("any second now")!

So I got a notification asking me to resubmit my OCI card. I went back to the portal to resubmit and consistently get a "Forbidden - The page you are looking for might have been removed or is temporarily unavailable" when I click the button to re-upload the document.
Has anyone gone through this?

Lets hope so. I'm going to try to get some info from my sources at the Civil Aviation Ministry.

Not this exactly... But plenty similar plenty of times.
We do IT for the world, but somehow never manage to utilise it for ourselves.

I wrote to them asking for next steps. Here is the response: Dear Applicant,

You can get your biometric enrollment done at any designated airport ONLY on your next International Travel at Immigration. At immigration you will find a designated desk to get your biometric enrollment done.

Regards,

BOI Team

Got a bunch of replies from them over the last 24 hours. Either they don't know the answer to the question or simply refuse to answer it.

After I got the approval email I asked them where at the Delhi airport do I need to complete the bio-metrics. Their response:

Dear Applicant,

You can get your biometric enrollment done at any designated airport ONLY on your next International visit at Immigration. At immigration you will find a designated desk to get your biometric enrollment done.

Regards,
BOI Team
I responded:

Thank you for your response. Please let me know the procedure for bio-metrics enrollment at Delhi airport. I understand I need to get this done at immigration but is the enrollment possible at the time of departure or will it be at the time of arrival?
Their response:

Dear Applicant,

You can get your biometric enrollment done at any designated airport ONLY on your next International Travel at Immigration. At immigration you will find a designated desk to get your biometric enrollment done.

Regards,

BOI Team
My next response:

Thank you for your response. My question still remains unanswered though. Will the bio metric enrollment be done at immigration during departure or at immigration during arrival?
Their last response:

Dear Applicant,

You can get your biometric enrollment done at any designated airport ONLY on your next International Travel at Immigration. You will find a designated desk to get your biometric enrollment done at Immigration.

Regards,

BOI Team
So they keep saying immigration but there is no mention of where at immigration. Also, I landed in DEL last week & was on the lookout for any fast-track signage or any enrollment desks but did not see anything.

Interesting to see tha the BoI mentions nothing of this scheme on their website: https://boi.gov.in/boi/

At least you got a response.... Even if unhelpful!

I've been treated to silence for a couple of weeks now.

There's an email, but it doesn't have any actual instructions.
Has anyone heard or read about anyone who has managed to complete the last step?

I can let you know in about 2 weeks. Scheduled to fly out of DEL on the 24th of July. If the enrollment is on arrival then I'll be back a week later on the 1st of August.

Hopefully someone will complete the last step before that so that I can rely on their experience.

Keyser Jul 10, 2024 7:54 am

So here is a little more information I could gather from my contact at the Civil Aviation Ministry.

They have set up enrollment counters at both departure & arrival in DEL.

The first day was Monday earlier this week but there seems to have been no enrollments done at DEL so far.

At immigration you have to inform the officer that you want to get your biometric enrollment done for the Fast Track Immigration program & they will let you know which counter to go to.

jasepl Jul 10, 2024 10:38 am

Yes please! Do share what you encountered.

I might be travelling towards the end of this month as well, only for like 3 days, but not sure yet. And in any event, probably 50% of the officials you encounter at DEL will have no clue about this, so I'm confident 96.87% of them at BOM won't! :)

The actual working functioning implementation of this is far, far away - at least that's my suspicion.
