Not necessarily. Not if they just make a rule that YQ can't be collected on award redemptions. It's become an absolute joke now trying to redeem "free" tickets on some programs.

Basically what fuel dumping means is to use a carrier that doesn't add YQ to a booking to avoid the YQ. Say for instance if you are flying from NYC to DEL on UA and they are charging $2500 + taxes of $600 of which $500 is the YQ. You might be able to fuel dump the YQ by adding on a US Airways segment. So you then have to do PHL-NYC-DEL but would pay $2,600 fare rather then UA's $3,100 and you would have dumped the YQ by adding the US sector. There is an entire thread devoted to the topic of fuel dumps here on FlyerTalk http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/milea...ge-thread.html It's not fun trying to drag yourself through that thread though... They are much less secretive on MilePoint. |

I have never ever heard of such a thing. Need to read that trick it thread. |
Like pvdtodel said its not that easy but basically the concept is that. I think one way was starting flights off in NAS and that allowed fuel dumping to a UA ticket. But that trick no longer works.
I haven't found a single fuel dump to work ex-India yet. 99% I have used worked in USA only. Anyone found any local ones? |
I have found many in past years...
For example, HYD-FRA-BOS-FRA-HYD was fully dumpable by adding a specific segment on Bahamasair and using UA codeshares... Even on 9W, the YR on HYD-PNQ-HYD is dumpable by adding a short jetstar segment.. The savings are very small though, so I stick with AI... I'm sure that other 9W routes can be dumped as well. The YQ used to be partially dumpable using an IT Red interline, but that hasn't worked since they got suspended from IATA the first time. |
9W/LH combos are nice... ;)

I can't resist adding random 9W segments to my trips.

Already have a Dell M4600 bought new recently, but it's too wide for my current bag, so I'm putting it up for sale - still using an old Toshiba... |

how is the battery life on the dell????
Just checked the size and it was too wide for my old messenger-style bag. From my research, it's in excess of 7 hours with the battery I ordered (largest internal), even with a quad-core processor! (I'm looking only at laptops with proper docking stations) |
I'm a diehard Macbook fan - the higher initial investment is more than made up by the improved reliability, superior user interface, lack of viruses (and consequent lack of need for a paid anti-virus program), among other advantages.
It's much cheaper to pick up a MacBook while on a trip to the USA - you can bring it in within your customs allowance, and the warranty is international. |
