Is there a place in the US, where one can get some good masala puri/chaats? I found one in DFW but they haven't even heard of such a thing.

Edison, NJ or Jackson Heights, NY (Queens).

There are different incarnations of "bhel", even in India, and even in Mumbai!

Go to Delhi, and you'll find your "bhel" full of nuts (yuck) and even if you visit the Sea Lounge (Taj in Mumbai) you will find a very sterile version which has no "soul" or real flavor at all...

This bhel discussion has me craving Pani Puri from the guy outside Elco Arcade in Mumbai.

i have actually had the best chaats from roadside vendors. But with each passing year, my stomach is becoming more soft and like my mother I may not be able to keep eating this roadside stuff for too long.

I have heard that of other Indian dishes.

Folks, anyone have an idea as to whether masala puri is a south Indian thing?
The owner of the joint I went to, seemed quite interested in this chaat and even tried to customise something for me at no cost. I'm thinking if I give him a recepe for it, he might do it.
