Based upon requests, this is now a wiki - please feel free to edit - but please only post the suite that you are confirmed into and not what you ultimately get (eg PH Vendome books into Park Suite but many ultimately get a Park Executive Suite). I'll start with that one for formatting example - I will try to do refinements to this when I have some time later.

To check the room type you booked into, you may use Hyatt E-Concierge:

I was status-matched during the Twitter promo. I just checked, no DSU showing either. It still shows 1 used (from last year), 0 remaining. Expiration 2/28/17.
Has anybody who got Diamond via the Twitter promo gotten a new set of DSU? Maybe just those who earned Diamond are getting them.

I used one of my remaining DSU's for 5 nights at Hyatt Times Square. Was offered the Corner Suite, but requested and was granted the Executive Suite instead (595 sq ft with pull-out sofa).

I just remembered that I actually "redeemed" 2 DSU from last year. The first stay, I completed. The second one was confirmed to be a suite at HR Huntington Beach for a stay in April. Shouldn't that show as a REDEEMED DSU-- as in 2 earned/redeemed?

Regarding my concern that only those who earned DSU-- many commenters on OMAAT matched and got their DSU.

I generally think Hyatt provides good customer service, but I had a very disappointing interaction today.

I DM'ed Hyatt on Twitter to apply a new DSU to a reservation at the PH Chicago. I checked in advance to make sure the DSU suite (Executive Suite) was available. Hyatt responded a few hours later and said the DSU suite wasn't available. After I told them I saw the suite available for sale online, they said that the DSU books into the Grand Executive Suite, no the Park Executive that available.

I was disappointed, but understood. Then I decided to check the difference in the rooms on the website. Hyatt uses the exact same photos and description for both rooms down to the punctuation. I pointed this out in another DM and the rep told me I was wrong; the rooms were different. I said I'm reading straight from the Hyatt site and they just responded to have a nice day. No other explanation.

I'm used to hotels playing games with the DSUs at this point, but if you are going to try to limit the use at least change the photos or description. It's just lazy and disingenuous.

Have you tried giving them a call and asking for the same upgrade? Their Twitter team hasn't really scored any points with me and I avoid reaching out to them that way, whereas every time I call in for a DSU, the folks on the phone seem genuinely delighted to try to get me the best suite possible ^

The room that you mentioned doesn't match the Wiki. I guess they upgraded the DSU room and the wiki needs to be updated. Can anyone confirm this? I guess it would be in the PH Chicago thread on here.

I don't see what you (think) you are seeing. The PH Chicago lists a number of suites, the Park Suite being the entry level suite with 831-square-foot and then the Park Executive Suite with 900-square-foot, etc. There's also a substantial price difference between the different types....
So no games here... for a DSU the entry level suite has to be available.

The PH Chicago's website tells a different story.... 2 different suite types.

Sure enough. The award heading was collapsed and, when combined with a few cocktails, well, no more needs to be said.

I think you completely missed what the OP was saying. The Park Executive Suite and the Grand Executive Suite (not the Park Suite which is the entry level suite) has the exact same description. I verified it myself.

No the PH website doesn't tell a different story. The Wiki says "Park Suite" (which is a type on the hotel page.). The OP was told that it books into the "Grand Executive Suite", which is also on the hotel page.

I'm getting confused :-). Why would the entry level suite for a DSU be anything more than the cheapest suite available which is the Park suite (and not the executive version which is +$100-200)?

Or does an entry in a wiki here for something that someone has gotten maybe once beat what the GP T&C's demand....?

I just did a quick search of the FT thread and sure enough many posts about the DSU booking into a Grand Exec room. Someone even posted that they wanted to "downgrade" to a regular Exec but the HGP agent wouldn't do it.

It happens that some hotels book into higher/more expensive suites than the entry level. I don't have much experience with it but I booked a room at the Andaz 5th Ave for next month. The "Splash Suite" which the DSU books into is actually the 3rd least expensive suite they have.

IIRC the PH Chicago changed the DSU suite from the entry suite (Park Suite) to the Grand (Executive) suite sometime in the last year perhaps in an attempt to limit the number of possible DSU redemptions since there are more Park Suites than the new category or possibly that they actually have demand for those paying cash for the Park Suite but not the higher category suite.

Aha... but that seems to conflict with the T&C which state "Suite upgrade awards are only valid for standard suites, defined as each participating properties introductory suite category".
