I have given up on Marriott in general. For me, it is probably the worst of the three programs in treating Elite members (I am Bonvoy Lifetime Platinum). This year, I have a total of 25 nights with Marriott (20 of those nights were bonus nights credit). The other 5 were on points or cash+points. A grand total cash spend of USD 250 this year! I am trying to burn down my points.

The question I have is where are they selling inventory for the base suites. After leaving GH Hangzhou and PH Shanghai a month ago, I realized I could and probably should look on ctrip (chinese version) to double check the Hyatt webpage.

Even there for PH Shanghai the Park Suite 柏悦套房 doesn't show up - only the Bund View Suite 外滩景观套房 in the next month checking random dates. And further out that disappears too, leaving just the Diplomat Suite 外交官套房 (while on Hyatt both the Diplomat and the Presidential Suite have availability almost any day you check).

Meanwhile HR Hangzhou has reasonable availability for the Grand Suite 君悦套房 and other higher level suites whereas the Hyatt site has nothing any day.

E: Ah, 柏悦套房 do show up in 同程旅行 (ly.com) but all the random days I've checked show as sold out

Does this hotel not have rollaways? Doesnt look like they take triple occupancy for any rooms except the diplomatic / presidential suites.

If that's indeed the case, what would people recommend (3 people - my parents and me):
  • Andaz XTD (am globalist)
  • The Ritz (only Gold through my Amex)
  • Peninsula
  • Bulgari
Cost isn't a huge issue, although with Bulgari being nearly 2x as much as the others it would have be 2x as good
