I was there last week for one night on BWB -- received large room on the club floor (there are only about 8 rooms on that floor) with bottle of wine & fruit. Good "buffet" for the evening; lounge closed for breakfast but then had the full breakfast downstairs. good stay.

Just completed a 3-night BWB stay at the PH Melbourne -- my second stay at PH as a Diamond -- and I can say that it beat out the PH Zurich (which gets rave reviews here on FT) in every way!
- The location is great, just outside the hustle and bustle, yet close to everything (and far easier to manage with a car). Valet parking was AUD30 per day. - Was upgraded to a large corner room on the 17th floor (was it the Club Deluxe Room?) with a working gas fireplace, which I made extensive use of during the chilly evenings. - Received a bottle of wine (but no fruit or chocolate) upon returning to my room the first evening. - The breakfast (in the 19th-floor lounge on Sunday or in the restaurant on other days) was great, and it included made-to-order omelettes as well as several hot/meat selections (unlike at the PH Zurich) - The lounge itself was large and quite comfortable, with great finger foods during the evenings. (It looked as if there was also pour-your-own wine, although I did not sample that.) - The service was attentive, and whenever I asked for something, it was delivered promptly and friendly (again, unlike at the PH Zurich). Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the PH Melbourne. Melbourne is a great city and the PH is certainly a nice place to enjoy it! |
Sounds great mike, i'm going to be sampling the PH there in a few months.
Is there a lounge? I wasn't aware that PH's had club lounges... Also, just about PH Zurich, you are more than welcome to order egg/hot selections, since the full breakfast is covered by your diamonds status! |
AFAIK, the PH Melbourne is the only PH with a club lounge.

PH Canberra has the Ambassador Lounge, essentially a club lounge for Diamonds and those staying in the higher room categories.

I'm currently enjoying the last night of a 4-night stay at this wonderful hotel.
Club Deluxe room with a toasty fireplace, very nice bottle of Shiraz Viogner on arrival, the usual trimmings. This hotel just gets so many things right: - The pool is the perfect temperature for extensive lap swimming. - Pool/ gym shower & change facilities are excellent. - Room service is fast, flexible, of a high standard and HOT when delivered. - The restaurant has great ambience and a broad, sophisticated but not wanky menu. No roast spatchcock on a bed of rocket and cous cous with foi gras - you get the idea. - The breakfast offering is great and ALWAYS includes fresh strawberries. - The lounge is one of the best around, probably the best I've experienced (and I've visited a LOT of lounges). The white chocolate and macadamia cookies are not to be missed. The lamp on my desk even has a real 60w globe - not some eco-hippy mercury-filled vision-killing flourescent rubbish. Park Hyatt Melbourne FTW. |

Checked in for 3 nights here using my last BWB awards, was upgraded to suite in 19th floor, when check in at 11 am the room was not ready, we were escorted given lounge to relax, I went for sauna and feel great after long flight.
Lounge offer full bar service and champagne and hot finger foods, the ladies at lounge were very great and friendly. Great location, alot of interesting places to see in walking distant and Circle City train for free :) |
Generally a faultless property, but certainly not on this experience. My PL agent had request a Club Deluxe with a fireplace, in the Cathedral Wing on a high floor.
Checked in at 5PM, was allocated a normal Park King room with club access. I requested a Club Deluxe in the Cathedral Wing, as per my Private Line agent's request, was told by check in agent none were available. I requested a Club Deluxe with a fireplace. Was given a room on the 11th (read 2nd) floor with no fireplace and I could hear the cars and trams on the street. There were chocolates but no wine (perhaps the PH is costcutting?) I requested a higher room as per my reservation comments and got moved to a Park King. Rang front desk again and the check-in agent told me I'm noticing the difference because "the first room was special." I stated that I had a very long flight that morning and I don't appreciate being lied to. Was then moved to the room that my PL line, and I had originally requested. I always politely made my requests, and never make unreasonable demands, over and above what Diamond members are entitled to. I frequent the PH Melbourne because to date, the property has been outstanding. Note to the PH MEL. Your staff shouldn't lie to Diamond Members who have over 30+ stays at your property and know room types. Particularly when you are competing with the GH which just had a $40Million refurb. |
